Our #SCMSummerCamp 🍊 students visited the Norfolk Southern Railyard in Knoxville, where they learned how different railroad companies compete and collaborate and the crucial role they play in global logistics. 🛤️ During the visit, the high schoolers entered the control tower and observed the organization of train cars. They even got to climb aboard a locomotive to learn how they're operated! Thanks to Jason Scott and the entire NS team for warmly welcoming our group and educating us about another crucial piece of the #supplychain! 🙏 cc: Haslam College of Business at the University of Tennessee

Our second round of site visits this week to the #SCMSummerCamp 🍊 crew to the main site of local partner Axle Logistics! While there, our hosts taught the campers about what a modern #3PL does, broke down the positions available on their teams, and gave each person a chance to job shadow two separate employees for an hour. They learned about accepting new cargo, tracking deliveries, and managing relationships with customers and truck drivers. As an added bonus, our high school students happened to arrive on Free Food Thursday, where all the company's employees are treated to lunch! Thank you so much to Lauren Hounshell, Ali Fraley and the entire Axle team for welcoming us like true #Vols. 🙏 cc: Haslam College of Business at the University of Tennessee

Earlier this week, high school students participating in the #SCMSummerCamp 🍊 visited a Colgate-Palmolive facility in Morristown, Tennessee. Planted director Aaron Pursley led our group through an overview of the company's 200-year history. We then toured the plant, which manufactures toothpaste and mouthwash for the U.S. and Canada. The tour included a firsthand look at the manufacturing and filling areas for both products. This hands-on experience was not only fascinating but also a valuable educational opportunity to learn about the global #supplychain. Thank you Luis Arroyo and the whole Colgate team for helping get our campers there! 🙏

As part of UT's #SCMSummerCamp 🍊 this week, high school students visited the newest Amazon facility in Alcoa, Tennessee. They toured the manufacturing and warehousing areas and observed advanced automation and technology at work, even getting to see robots operating across an entire floor. Our time at Amazon showed how even the smallest roles contribute significantly to the overall process. Thank you T Hyde for giving us a first-hand look at the exciting innovations happening in the industry! 🙏 cc: Haslam College of Business at the University of Tennessee

Emily Rowe is the next graduate in our #MakingtheJump 🎓 series, which celebrates undergraduates transitioning into their #supplychain careers this summer. An honors student who was involved in organizations across campus, Emily interned at Philips and Arthrex and recently began her career with HF Sinclair in Dallas, where she is an associate in the company's rotational development program. During her time at Haslam College of Business at the University of Tennessee, Emily loved learning about the product lifecycle and the problem-solving elements of #SCM from one end to the other. However, she was especially impacted by the professors who mentored and encouraged her to ask questions and actively participate in class. "I know that in five, 10, or 15 years, I can email a previous professor and they will be more than happy to catch up and help with any project I may be working on. I am thankful for the opportunities I've been given and the relationships the program brought me." Congratulations Emily! 🎉
