Yesterday, the Massachusetts House of Representatives released their climate bill. Disappointingly, the bill has no language to ban third-party electric suppliers in the retail market or any other action to reduce the harm done by suppliers, as opposed to the Senate climate bill that passed a ban on third-party electric suppliers in the retail market. Now, Rep Frank Moran has filed Amendment 21, which would ban third-party electric suppliers from signing contracts with residential customers. It is critical that we reach out to our local state representatives RIGHT NOW and ask them to cosponsor Amendment 21 to protect consumer rights across Massachusetts. The key points here are irrefutable. So, let's legislate (by the end of July) and let's regulate (a strong Clean Heat Standard by the fall). Electrification beats combustion in so many ways.

"Green Energy Consumers Alliance has been an advocate of aggregation because it delivers both savings to ratepayers and more renewable energy than required by law. We are grateful that this DPU took the time to listen to stakeholders and to create guidelines that help the aggregation movement grow while continue to ensure consumer protections." Carbon emissions in Massachusetts and Rhode Island are going up, not down as their laws and the planet require. Unfortunately, this is true at a global and national level as well. These sobering facts are a renewed call to action for all of us. https://hubs.ly/Q02FSJs80
