A new Education Gallery exhibition Philotechnic Transformation, curated by the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen (TASK) and the Trenton Community A-Team (TCAT) is now open through August 25, 2024. Each art piece represents a broad palette of concepts, emotions, and inspirations and offers the viewer a glimpse into the individual artist’s life and creative process. The exhibition features work from Dolores Frails, Carol Johnson, Lisa Lewis, Herman “Shorty” Rose, Emery Williams, Deborah “Half-Pint” Kisela, Claudia Moeller, Derrick Branch, Charles Smith, Demond Williams, John Hayes, Nourelgalil Salih, Gia Smith, Tyrese Douglas, Antonio Sullivan, Walter Roberts, Ethel Mack and Willie Spinks. TASK, TCAT, and Grounds For Sculpture have been partnering since 2022. With support from the DINA WIND ART FOUNDATION Foundation, GFS has offered TASK artists the opportunity to participate in high-level art classes at no cost. This program has provided space for artists to develop their technical skills and creative expression. TASK’s creative arts program is made possible, in part, by the Mercer County Cultural and Heritage Commission through funding from the Mercer County Board of Chosen Commissioners and the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, a Partner Agency of the National Endowment for the Arts. #Trenton #MercerCounty #arts #exhibitions #artmuseums To reserve tickets to visit GFS and the exhibition visit https://lnkd.in/eeBgSJu

42 acres, 10 poets, 2 food trucks and a 20-foot vessel! Come join us for an evening of poetry in the garden! Join us for an exploration of word flow, verses and landscapes as Danny Simmons brings a Def Poetry Jam Reunion to Grounds For Sculpture (GFS) featuring poet and master ceramicist Roberto Lugo. This partnership is inspired by our 2023 acquisition of Lugo’s 20-foot vessel Put Yourself in the Picture. The title of the vessel was pulled from a poem, performed by legendary rapper, teacher, poet, and philosopher KRS-one, at Def Poetry Jam (a spoken word poetry television series) where KRS-one stated “..visualize wealth and put yourself in the picture”. We are thrilled to partner with poet, painter, and philanthropist Danny Simmons as he curates Def Poetry Jam Alumni to share their poetic practice. A Def Poetry Jam Reunion is supported in part by the New Jersey Council for the Humanities, a state partner of the National Endowment for the Arts. Did you know we're now open 7 days a week and open at 8am on the weekends for Member Mornings? On the first Saturday of every month, Family Open Studios are free for Members and included with admission for guests that day. This drop-in workshop invites all ages to create together. Tomorrow's theme is "Cast A Shadow". Using studio spotlights, participants will cast shadows on objects that can be traced onto individual sheets of paper or the studio’s collaborative shadow mural. This project is inspired by a new sculpture currently on view in The Meadow. Mac Adams’, East West Buddha casts the shadow of a Buddha at 11 am and 2 pm, May through August when the sun is just right.
