What a great crowd at the Gooseberry Trails site celebration this afternoon! Special thanks to U.S. Rep. Suzanne Bonamici, Portland Commissioner Carmen Caballero Rubio, Oregon Housing & Community Services (OHCS) Director Keeble Giscombe, Metro Regional Housing Director Patricia Rojas, and Portland Housing Bureau Director Helmi Hisserich! Once completed, these 52, affordable, energy-efficient homes will open doors to many individuals and families for years to come! Thank you!

Habitat Portland/Metro East and Willamette West Habitat are uniting as one: Habitat for Humanity Portland Region.
About us
Habitat for Humanity Portland Region revitalizes neighborhoods, builds affordable and sustainable homes, and empowers families through successful homeownership. Habitat for Humanity Portland Region is an independent affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a global home building movement. Habitat welcomes people from all walks of life to partner in serving families in need and creating a better community for everyone who lives here. Founded in 1981, Habitat for Humanity Portland Region has been providing homeownership opportunities for hardworking families for 33 years. Habitat serves Multnomah and Northern Clackamas Counties, and has built over 295 homes in partnership with local families. Collectively, Habitat for Humanity has built over 800,000 homes worldwide, averaging one home every seven minutes. Habitat works with qualified, low-income families to help them realize the dream of owning their own home. We believe that building equity is a long-term solution to the problem of generational poverty. Habitat is the only organization in the Portland region that consistently offers homeownership opportunities to families making as little as $30,000. We do this through a hand-up, not hand-out model in which homeowners help to build and then buy their home from Habitat. Here’s how it works: after completing sweat equity hours, families sign their affordable mortgages and make monthly payments that are based on less than 30% of their monthly incomes. These payments go into the Revolving Fund for Humanity to pay it forward, helping to build more homes.

Thank you to everyone who turned out for the LGBTQ+ Pride Community Build Day Saturday at our Gooseberry Trails community! Some tool training followed by starting (badly needed) rehab on the job trailer. It was a great day to work together for a real positive impact! Invasive plant species wreak havoc on valuable, native fauna. Special thanks to the folks at Intel Corporation, who along with other volunteers got to work clearing out the problem plants at our Gooseberry Trails community in SW Portland!

We're super excited to have Ivette Alonso Garcia, Ammar Mukadam, Ryan Jun, and Ky Dang join us this summer as part of the Bank of America Student Leaders Program. These outstanding students will work on summer-long projects within the ReStore Development Department and our homeownership team where they will develop skills in marketing, community engagement, and project management. #BofAStudentLeaders

Century Commons is growing up! These 18 homes in Hillsboro are in various stages of construction, from foundation and framing to walled and weatherproofed (the black coating). It's always so exciting to see a community take shape and develop its own personality. Thank you for making these homes happen!

We were so excited to have the KOIN-TV Morning Show at our ReStore last week to share about our exciting new partnership with Ridwell to recycle leftover paint. Thank you for helping us bring awareness to our mission and our ReStores!

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us at the Trivia on the Lawn fundraiser! Habitat's Ambassador Council did an incredible job bringing our community together for a night of fun to benefit Habitat. With 140 attendees, we surpassed our goal and raised over $15,000! A special shoutout to our sponsors, guests, and the AC for making this event unforgettable!

Three cheers for the folks at Astound Broadband who put their high-powered energy into helping build much-needed affordable homes at Habitat's Century Commons. Volunteers are the lifeblood of Habitat's work, and this team was — well — astounding! Thank you for all you do!
