Hamilton County Departments are leading the way in their areas of expertise. Mary Maune, Program Coordinator of the Hamilton County Commission on Women & Girls, was invited to attend “Gender-Based Violence and Harassment in Focus: A Summit to Create an Equitable World of Work”, hosted by the U.S. Department of Labor Women’s Bureau, in Washington D.C. This all-day Summit focused on opportunities to end gender-based violence and harassment in the world of work and uplift the principles of Convention 190 in the United States. Marking the one-year anniversary of the release of the U.S. National Plan to End Gender-Based Violence and the five-year anniversary of the International Labour Organization’s adoption of Convention 190 (ILO C190), the Summit convened workers, unions, employers, government representatives, worker advocates and other stakeholders who are working to prevent and address gender-based violence and harassment at the national, state and local levels. Speakers and participants discussed the importance of identifying, responding to, and preventing gender-based violence and harassment in the world of work. **HELP SPREAD THE WORD!** 2024-2025 Applications are now open! It's that time of year again! The Hamilton County Commission on Women & Girls (Hamilton County, Ohio) is once again looking for interested candidates to apply to serve as a member of the Commission for the 2024-2025 term. We are looking to appoint 10 women and 10 high school girls to serve at this time. Each year, Commission members meet monthly to research and learn about the current and most pressing needs and gaps of service for women, girls, and other marginalized communities in Hamilton County. Their term will conclude with a presentation of their recommendations of ways that the County and other local stakeholders can work together to address those needs, to the Hamilton County Board of County Commissioners. This opportunity offers women and girls to learn more about their community and drive real and impactful policy change. Through this experience, they will practice listening, learning from one another, collaborating with community partners, developing their leadership skills, and providing & receiving mentorship. By ensuring their voices are included "at the table," the Commission on Women & Girls continues to strive to build a more equitable and thriving community for us all. Please visit our website to learn more, and as indicated on the application, please send all applications directly to the Clerk to the Board of County Commissioners (address found on application) who will process your application.
