In every 100 children in Canada, 1% experience some form of medical complexity. These children often fall through the cracks of the existing system of care. To raise awareness of the 1%, we partnered with Toronto-based not-for-profit Safehaven to launch One in 100, an illustrated book to shine a light on the medically complex children in our communities that Safehaven works to support. Inspired by the beloved "Where’s Waldo" series, One in 100 takes readers on a visual journey through iconic Toronto landmarks, encouraging them to find the medically complex child within the bustling scenes. This unique storytelling approach demonstrates that medically complex children are important parts of our local communities but often go unnoticed or forgotten. We are beyond grateful to our partners at The Local Collective for bringing us in on this rewarding and essential storytelling opportunity. We're evolving...again. Heads+Tales is expanding its service offering and has hired an industry veteran James Grant as EVP, Integrated Services. Growth-oriented and outcome-driven, James has spent his career at large established agencies and disruptive communications start-ups in senior leadership, business development, operations and client service roles. Most recently, James was VP Brand and Program Director at Publicis leading large US based accounts. Prior to that he was Managing Director at OneMethod. James has also spent time client-side as a marketing consultant helping small businesses drive traction through full-funnel communications tactics.  James’ first mandate will be to lead brand strategy for Toronto-based litigation firm, Neinstein. Heads+Tales recently worked with the firm to lead PR for its recent mandate that made international headlines, representing 14 Ontario school boards who have brought lawsuits against Meta, TikTok and SnapChat for disruption to the education system. Given the unprecedented success of that work, Neinstein has expanded the agency’s mandate to further elevate their brand in the market. The work will include brand narrative building, brand refresh, website development, social media strategy and thought leadership. https://lnkd.in/gMUcsa6g

“This isn’t a moment for brands to sell or push an offering. It’s a moment to show up for your consumers to say, ‘we hear you, we’re on your side, and we understand. Brands that do this well ultimately get recognized for it.” Our very own Katie Muir spoke with Justin Crann at Campaign Canada about the ins and outs of the culture hacking strategy for the Boston Pizza Restaurants, LP. Rage Room our team worked in collaboration with our incredible partners at Camp Jefferson. In the wake of the Toronto Maple Leafs' game-seven playoffs elimination, fans were directed to vent their frustrations in a "rage room" for two days at one of the brands' GTA locations. The conversation this drove, and the holistic results speak for themselves. Check out the details here: https://lnkd.in/g9WMSB_2

Is earned media dead? Our Co-CEO Amanda Shuchat shares her thoughts...

    Co-Founder & Co-CEO at Heads+Tales

"Is earned media dead?" It's a frequently asked question for any PR firm in 2024.  The answer? Sunday, May 5, 2024. If you tuned into any major news source, you'd see a wide range of stories: Yahoo Style, 7 a.m.: "50 best last-minute Mother's Day gift ideas in 2024 for every budget and every kind of mom, featuring the Canada Goose Abbott Hoody" CTV, 11:55 a.m: "Toronto comes together for a fundraising supporting children's mental health" The headline speaks to the Kids Help Phone's annual Walk so Kids Can Talk event in support of young people and their mental health.  CBC, 1:27 p.m: "Trudeau visits Toronto Holocaust Museum as Jewish Canadians mark Yom HaShoah. CityTV, 6 p.m: "Popular sports bar hosts Rage Room for Leafs fans," this story about Boston Pizza Restaurants, LP.'s initiative for fans to blow off steam after a heartbreaking loss. Aside from this being a Heads+Tales client hit list, it's proof that earned media is still a big piece of a complex communications puzzle. We wouldn't go so far as to say it's alive and well. It's like a gut punch every time we hear of Bell doing another round of layoffs, or an iconic news show airing its last episode (shoutout Cityline). And while it's no longer enough to move the needle in most cases to rely on earned media relations alone, it remains a big part of driving, or changing, the cultural conversation. After all, that's what PR is at its core. I wish it was as simple as posting the formula for nailing it in this post, but it is far more nuanced than that. In fact, these examples show a range of purpose-based initiatives, product stories, nationally recognized days and hacking culture. But it's so much more than that. It's a return to the human insight that we can all relate to. It's tugging on the tension that makes people - and journalists - react. It's believing in the stories you're telling and the people you're telling them about. So, no. Earned media is not dead. But it has certainly changed. The one thing that hasn't, is how gratifying it is to get those hits. The way our team did on Sunday.

On the heels of our 1st anniversary, we're thrilled to welcome another iconic, Canadian start-up to our portfolio. Heads+Tales is being tasked to amplify Endy’s brand presence in the Canadian market through our culture hacking approach. We can't wait to garner awareness for Endy by tapping into key cultural trends to inform attention-grabbing ideas. https://lnkd.in/ggm_MCB5

Most fairy tales feature princesses trapped in enchanted castles waiting to be rescued by a prince. They often include evil stepsisters, friendly forest animals and impossible choices. They always end with 'happily ever after'. But we're just getting started. This is our fairy tale. Happy Birthday, Heads+Tales.

January 25, 2023 marks the day we launched Heads+Tales. Today was another major first: day one in our new office space. Over the past 10 months, we've built this magical place with exceptional humans around our Co-Founder, Amanda Shuchat's dining room table. We outgrew that table - both literally and figuratively - faster than we ever imagined and we couldn't be more thrilled to welcome a new space. We've teamed up with Sara Koonar and her brilliant team Platform Media & Management Inc. to share their enchanted office that feels like it was truly meant for both our teams to thrive, and not just because it's designed in our brand colours. We can't wait for the ideas and brands and memories we'll build here. Home sweet home.

Imagine being home alone with your 2-month-old newborn, celebrating the holidays alone. Or starting your first day of school, in the middle of the year, at your 14th high school. These are just a few of the sacrifices military families make everyday so we don’t have to. According to Hallmark, more than 1.3 billion cards are sent annually in North America for occasions like Christmas, Easter and Mother’s Day, yet none of them capture the sentiment of what Canadian military families endure. Today is Military Family Appreciation Day (MFAD) and we're thrilled to share our partnership with Together We Stand Foundation to educate Canadians about the realities of the 80,000+ active military families and 460,000+ veteran families living in Canada, we're launching a first-of-its kind greeting card line illustrated by Canadian artist and Veteran Chrissy Schram and inspired by the stories and realities of military families from coast-to-coast. Help give military families the recognition they deserve by visiting twsfoundation.ca and sharing on social.

The headline reads "Heads+Tales wins four new mandates, hires three", which comes down to one thing: people. Those who have entrusted us with their business and their careers. Those who want to build something inspiring and have fun along the way. We are beyond grateful to be on this ride with you. And of course thankful to Strategy Magazine for helping to tell our story. #pr #agency #business #growth #marketing Katie Muir Amanda Shuchat https://lnkd.in/gsC4s9ZJ
