Coble Scholarship for Under-represented Educational Leaders is designed to support talented, under-represented educators to pursue graduate studies for central office leadership positions. Adina received this award at the 42nd annual Washington Association of School Administrators (WASA) Summer Conference. 🏫 Highline School Board members @Azeb Hagos, Stephanie Tidholm and Joe Van toured the new Tyee High School construction site on June 7. 🔨They invited a couple of alumni who volunteer with Friends of Tyee, as well as Joe's wife Leslee Barrington Van (Class of 1995, same as Joe). In the words of Robin Foster Adams (Class of 1971): “It was the cat’s meow, and Mt. Rainier was on display from every view!” 📐Stephanie Knox Nichols (Class of 1967) was all smiles and said she liked some of the ways the new school design will increase safety and security. 🎭 See the flexible performing arts space taking shape. 🏗 More than 75% of the structural steel columns and beams are installed, and that number is quickly climbing now that the Administration & Library wing is going up with the last delivery of steel. 👀Read more in our news post: https://lnkd.in/gFF3Wj_b 📸 Watch for more photos of progress this summer! #HighlineBuilds #KeepingOurPromise #SeaTac #HighlineCapitalPlanningandConstruction Absher Construction Company INTEGRUS Vanir Ellie Daneshnia

Yeiri Lopez, a Tyee High School senior and native Spanish speaker, faced the challenge of learning English head-on. She practiced every day, translating and learning new words, supported by her teachers and peers. She not only mastered English but also excelled academically. This June, she will graduate with the prestigious Seal of Biliteracy. 🏅 Yeiri’s accomplishment honors her heritage and culture and recognizes her advanced bilingual skills. She is currently enrolled in the nursing program at Puget Sound Skills Center (PSSC) and will attend Highline College in the fall to pursue a career in nursing. Yeiri aspires to use her bilingual skills to make a positive impact in the healthcare field, helping her community and supporting people in need. In the 2023-24 school year, approximately 300 Highline students will earn the Washington State Seal of Biliteracy at graduation. This award recognizes their proficiency in speaking, reading, writing, and listening in one or more languages in addition to English. The Seal of Biliteracy Program supports our goal of graduating students with multicultural skills that enable students to live, work and communicate across cultures. It is an integral part of our strategic plan. This certification is not only a mark of our students’ language proficiency but also a testament to their readiness to work and communicate effectively across cultures. 🌍
