It's no secret that those who live in rural America struggle to access high- quality healthcare. Michael Hasselberg at the University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC) recognized the disparity and knew that in order to close this gap he had to think outside the box and power an unconventional approach.     By partnering with Verizon Business, Modivcare, Five Star Bank and DexCare, URMC and their talented team of physicians are now accessible in local banks in upstate New York. The Food Trust Travels: Atlanta Edition! Last week Edgardo Bones, Corner Store Program Coordinator, attended the 73rd Annual American College of Cardiology Scientific Session and Expo, where he presented on the pilot work we're doing with Higi, a Modivcare service, bringing self-serve blood pressure machines into corner stores.

American Diabetes Association IL Chapter is still on cloud nine from our recent State of Diabetes; A Day of Community Access and Education program. As we work hard to raise awareness around the devastating disease of diabetes, we are grateful for all of our partners and volunteers who are in this fight with us. Throughout the day, we had health screenings and expert panel presentations on Clinical Trials, Diabetes Prevention, Diabetes Complications, Diabetes Technology, and Health Equity. Our Keynote Speaker, Dr. Ngozi Ezike provided an insightful conversation, lead by moderator, Tonita Cheatham on the effects of diabetes in our communities. Our Community Leadership Board Members were instrumental in supporting our efforts. Their leadership and passion for people living with diabetes is truly remarkable. Thank you all!
