IPSY is a place for authenticity, humanity, and community—24/7/365. ❤️ Special thanks to #ZachDishinger, CEO/Founder of #FormulaZCosmetics, and #JohnSteel, CEO/Founder of #SteelSkin, for joining us as panelists in our Pride Founders Panel! This panel was part of our monthly "Make It Real" series for employees, which is all about sharing the lived experiences of diverse individuals to foster growth and connection. Check out a few quotable moments below: 🔊“I definitely had to switch schools for the way I was treated for being different. Being in the LGBTQ+ community has given me a purpose and a platform to speak out for good, especially for those who don’t have a voice or can’t speak out… The culture won’t change without us fueling this conversation. As a brand, whether it’s partnering with charitable organizations or content creators that have the same ethos as you, it’s up to you how you want to get that mission out there.” Zach Dishinger 🔊”I’ve been in rooms where I’ve overheard conversations that were discriminatory, or someone didn’t know I was gay and would say things. Maneuvering through that and having to suppress more and more of myself, I just hated it. I hated having to do all these things and put on a show just to make everyone else feel comfortable. They didn’t know, but I felt like it was the name of the game not knowing who’s homophobic or doesn’t want to be around you. So being around that, I wanted to create a space that was free of judgment and full of inclusivity.” John Steel 🔊“I was your typical theater kid, and by middle school, I realized the transformative power that makeup had on me. When I was wearing makeup, being bullied for being gay and different didn’t really matter anymore. I started to step into myself, realizing who I was, and staying true to myself… and I wanted to help others stay true to who they are.” Zach Dishinger 🔊“Pride means showing up authentically and unapologetically yourself. It’s a celebration of survival, of resilience, of the progress we’ve made, especially by those before us. It’s a deeper acknowledgment of the ongoing fight for rights and acceptance, and that’s the importance of Pride—understanding it’s not only LGBTQ+ but for everyone that chooses to show up that day–I made it, I survived, I’m here, I’m ‘ME’, whatever that means for them. Pride is for everybody.” John Steel 🔊“It’s about acceptance and being human and being together as a community. I always say this: you’re stronger as a community than you are as a nation, so any time you can celebrate Pride, whether it’s at a workspace or on the street—if you can look at someone and feel safe—that’s what Pride is, showing up and feeling safe just being yourself.” John Steel Shoutout to our very own Peter Mostachetti, LMSW for moderating this panel! “I am as professionally gay as I’ve always hoped to be.” Peter Mostachetti ❤️
