KEMRON Environmental Services' is making significant progress on a major remediation project at a 132-acre former zinc smelting site in Fairmont City, IL under a contract with the USACE St. Louis District. Since breaking ground in February 2024, we have started construction on a 35-acre consolidation cell for the disposal of heavy metal-contaminated materials. The project involves clearing and grubbing of 11 acres, remediating ~800,000 cubic yards of slag materials, removing 375,000 cubic yards of clean clay and general backfill, installing civil RCP/CMP, and the final site restoration. So far, we have completed the clearing and grubbing, remediated approximately 190,000 cubic yards of slag, and removed approximately 10,000 cubic yards of concrete. The project is on track to be completed by winter 2026, with a current contract value of $22.3 million. #remediation #environmental #smallbusiness

The joint venture between KEMRON Environmental Services and Arrowhead Contracting Inc. (KAJV) was awarded an $18.7M contract to remediate the residential properties in Baxter Springs and Galena, Kansas as part of the Cherokee County Superfund Site. This project will focus on the excavation, transportation, and disposal of lead-contaminated materials from residential areas to ensure a safer environment for the community. Arianna Balmaseda, one of KEMRON Environmental Services' chemists, is using our custom-designed Safety Shield, designed by our Safety Director, Luke von Oldenburg, and constructed by one of our fabricators, Erik Harmon. Leisnoi-KEMRON JV was awarded a new contract for compliance support to Red River Army Depot (RRAD) located in Texarkana, TX by USACE Fort Worth. The contract includes five years of groundwater and surface water monitoring and reporting, monitoring well installation, abandonment and maintenance, and permit updates as required by RRAD’s Industrial and Hazardous Waste Permit and Compliance Plan. This contract is a follow-on award which will allow uninterrupted support and compliance with all regulatory requirements at RRAD. Leisnoi-KEMRON JV has completed significant compliance work at RRAD including well network optimization, groundwater investigation and remediation including installation and monitoring/maintenance of permeable reactive barrier walls, permit modifications and renewals.
