About us
Kentucky Medicaid is a state and federal program authorized by Title XIX of the Social Security Act to provide healthcare for eligible, low-income populations. These populations include children, low-income families, pregnant women, the aged, and the disabled. Eligibility for these groups is determined by a number of factors, including family size, income, and the Federal Poverty Level (FPL). Eligibility for people who receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and the aged, blind, or disabled, are based on additional requirements such as income and resource limits. Continuous glucose monitors (CGMs) are devices used to monitor blood sugar without needing a finger stick. Studies have shown better management of diabetes in people with low blood sugar and gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) can help with overall health including heart, nerve, vision, and mental health. Kentucky Medicaid is working on expanding coverage of CGMs to people at risk for hospitalizations due to severe cases of diabetes. Please read here https://buff.ly/3WjtEUg for more information.
