We are pleased to share that Kathy Kelly, a trusted and proven leader in the Chicago healthcare community, has joined us as the new Market CEO for Kindred Hospitals of Chicago. Kathy will oversee all strategic planning, finances, operations and personnel for Kindred’s four specialty, long-term acute care hospitals in the market: Kindred Hospital Chicago Lakeshore, Kindred Hospital Chicago – North, Kindred Hospital Chicago – Northlake, and Kindred Hospital Sycamore. Our National Hiring Event is over but we’re still hiring! As an example of its commitment to high-quality care for medically complex patients, Kindred Hospital Houston Medical Center recently expanded its renal care services with the addition of Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT), an innovative therapy that is considered ideal for patients in critical condition. “Kindred Hospital Houston Medical Center is dedicated to providing compassionate and innovative care for our patients. With our expanded renal replacement therapy options, we aim to empower individuals with renal conditions to lead healthier lives.”

Congrats to our Market CEO for Kindred Hospitals of North Texas, Abiola Anyebe, for her well-deserved inclusion on Becker's Healthcare's 2024 list of Black Healthcare Leaders to Know. We thank Abiola, who has been in her current role since last year and held leadership roles with Kindred since 2008, for her years of dedication to our patients and teams. We also congratulate James Poullard, ScionHealth Senior VP for Support Services, Health Equity and Experience, and Tarra Washington PT, DPT, MBA, Market CEO of ScionHealth’s Cornerstone Specialty Hospitals of Oklahoma, for making Becker’s Black Healthcare Leaders to Know list. James guides organizational strategy for pharmacy and other ancillary services at ScionHealth’s hospitals, including Kindred locations, while also leading the company’s health equity initiatives. Tarra is another highly respected leader within ScionHealth’s Specialty Hospital Division who is also a former Kindred Hospital CEO.

During May, we celebrate National Asian American, Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month as a time to honor and recognize the countless achievements and contributions of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders during our nation's history. We encourage everyone this month to find meaningful ways to celebrate, honor and learn more about AANHPI history and culture.

May 12 through May 18 is National Hospital Week, a time to recognize our 93 hospital campuses and facilities and thank our nearly 25,000 team members who care for our patients and support our operations.
