We’re working on Stage 3 of Frey Farm Landfill's vertical expansion project. This phase includes capping a 12.5-acre cell, demolishing old structures, installing a 2.7-acre liner system, building an MSE berm and updating leachate, gas and stormwater systems. To date, we've completed all demolition work and installed the new leachate infrastructure. Our upcoming tasks include testing pits and prepping for the MSE berm and stormwater system. When completed in October 2025, our work will help LCSWMA extend the life of the landfill by adding critical capacity to serve the community.

Happy retirement, Rick! Rick headed our crane services and crews for the last 22 years before retiring from our Industrial Division. He’s going to miss the relationships he’s built with our customers over the years, stating, “They became like family; some of these people have been using our services for decades! I always enjoyed ensuring every one of our customers received the best service we had to offer.” What didn’t he enjoy? Managing the people. “It isn’t easy telling people what to do, telling them where to go and holding them accountable. You have to do it – it’s part of the job – but it isn’t fun.” He also asked us to note, “Chris Kinsley and Rick Johnson are some of the best bosses you could ask for. This is a great company with a lot of great people!” He obviously has the respect of his staff. His employees certainly had a lot to say: “I wouldn’t be where I am today without Rick. He gave me every opportunity to succeed and I could always count on him. From his knowledge of the business to his willingness to help to being the kind of guy who will give you the shirt off his back, I will forever be grateful for the time I spent working for him. That said, Rick, don’t be afraid of a pen and piece of paper – they won’t bite!” (Apparently, he wasn’t always great with remembering to write things down.) “In all seriousness, I wish you all the best!” Now that he’s retired, he’s going to focus on his family and his golf game, after he completes his honey-do-list, of course. (Kudos, Rick, for finally installing the fence your wife Kathy asked for eight years ago!) His immediate plans include staying out of Kathy’s hair while she watches their six grandchildren, as well as improving his golf game with his group of traveling golfers. They also have a Florida vacation planned with the grandkids. “Our grandkids are fantastic…well behaved, they listen…at least, until their parents are with us!” Thank you for your years of service; we wish the best of luck on all your future endeavors, Rick!
