The third and final day of Lake Norman Regional Medical Center's Camp Med summer program was spent in Forsyth County visiting the Winston-Salem State University Occupational Therapy Department of the Intergenerational Center where the students participated in hands-on therapeutic activities designed to help patients with temporary or permanent loss of function that help regain independence and quality of life. The students then visited the Bowman Gray Center for Medical Education at the Wake Forest University School of Medicine where they learned about ultrasound, CPR and childbirth techniques using experiential and applied learning methods. At the conclusion of camp, students were able to observe technology and procedures, develop an understanding of the healthcare system, and the principles of medical ethics as well as hone effective skills of personal development in areas such as peer relations and teamwork. #campmed #communityoutreach #healthcarecareers #lakenormancareers #lakenormanregionalmedicalcenter

Camp Med Day Two continued today with medical career exploration. Dr. Ben Garrido, Orthopedic Spine surgeon, was today's featured presenter, where he encouraged students interested in pursuing a medical degree and career in medicine to study hard, work hard and never give up their dream of becoming a physician. Department directors and service line specialists, including Bio-Medical Engineering, Cardiopulmonary, Imaging, Laboratory, Nutritional Services, Surgical Services, and Wound Care presented career information as well as provided hands-on simulations and tours. #campmed #communityoutreach #healthcarecareers #lakenormanmedicalgroup #lakenormancareers #lakenormanregionalmedicalcenter

Congratulations Toni Davidson, RNC-OB, of Women's Services, as recipient of the 2nd Quarter 2024 DAISY Award! Recognized and presented the DAISY Award by Tammy Moore, Network Chief Nursing Officer, along with members of her department and hospital leadership, Toni was presented a certificate, a hand-carved Healter's Touch sculpture from Zimbabwe, a gift bag, daisies, and treats for her team to enjoy that included cinnamon rolls and cake.
