Our amazing Community Innovations team hosted a "MANage Your Health" event in June, in support of Men's Health Month! Attendees at our wellness event were able to get dental screenings and blood pressure checks, and some lucky members went home with door prizes, including a barbecue grill, burner and fry pot, ice chest and more! They also enjoyed a jambalaya lunch and some basketball. Thank you to our wonderful partners, CareSouth Medical & Dental and Southern University and A&M College- Baton Rouge, and vendors for helping make this event special. And thank you to all our members who attended!

We want to celebrate the amazing Well Woman event series for fostering a community of care and fellowship for Black women across our state, with a focus on whole health and wellness, and Black maternal health. We are so proud to be a part of this wonderful initiative! And while we are celebrating, we want to give a huge shoutout to our Director of Strategic Initiatives Shan Encalade Bowers for her dedication to improving the lives of our members. Our Population Health and Clinical Operations team recently participated in a "Wash Your Wheels" event with the Split Second Foundation in New Orleans. The event offers free cleaning and maintenance to wheelchair users. Thanks to the team for supporting the foundation's amazing mission of providing holistic care, support and resources to people affected by disabilities, with the ultimate goal of enhancing their quality of life. Foundation founder Mark Raymond will also be featured on "The Jennifer Hudson Show" on Tuesday, May 7, and we heard he gave Louisiana Healthcare Connections a little shoutout! Louisiana Healthcare Connections was honored to partner with Southern University and A&M College- Baton Rouge and sponsor their inaugural community field day, Jags Day on the Bluff. 200 energetic kids ages 5-12 flocked to Southern Athletics facilities recently for a day packed with play, sports, activities and fun! We are proud to support Southern’s efforts to educate and promote youth physical activity in the community. Huge thanks to Southern for spearheading this amazing event, and to all the participants who made this day truly unforgettable! #community

Our Community Innovations team recently hosted a Member Appreciation Day in New Orleans! Members enjoyed a heart-healthy meal and snacks, and had a great time playing bingo with exciting prizes up for grabs. Thank you to the team for coordinating this wonderful event for our members! Your dedication and planning made it an absolute hit!

Earlier this month, we hosted "Speak UP! Our Health, Our Voices, Our Power" in partnership with Delgado Community College in New Orleans. At this important panel discussion on Black maternal health, our speakers explored solutions to improve health outcomes for Black pregnant women in Louisiana. Our guests also had the opportunity to connect with other mothers and to community resources. We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to Delgado, our wonderful panelists and our attendees for taking part in this critical discussion and making this event a success!
