    Did you know that MaineHealth Medical Group Hospital Medicine and Let’s Go! Small Steps have partnered to offer the Walk with A Doc program in Portland? With an aim to make health and happiness accessible to everyone, Walk With A Doc (WWD) is a fun, free, and safe doctor led outdoor walk (or roll) where participants learn about different health topics and meet new people, while getting movement into their day!   Regular physical activity, like walking, is one of the best things we can do for both our physical and mental health. WWD inspires communities through movement and conversation. Let’s Go! encourages you to take a small step toward better health!     Welcome to our new interns, residents and fellows! Congratulations on completing orientation and starting strong on July 1st!! This year’s cohort consists of 333 residents in our 15 ACGME-accredited residency programs, 15 ACGME-accredited fellowship programs, and 3 rural tracks. We're committed to providing a robust clinical experience, strong academics and dedicated research opportunities. Our training is enriched by high-quality didactic sessions, dedicated faculty, and hands-on learning at the Hannaford Simulation Center. Our residents receive ample mentorship and opportunities to pursue scholarly research, quality improvement, and healthcare disparity projects. Here’s to the future leaders of medicine!     The MaineHealth Medical Group has three exciting Senior Medical Director positions open to existing physicians and APP leaders looking for new ways to drive positive systemic change for their colleagues and for patients. The ideal candidates are energetic and curious problem solvers who are ready to take their leadership skills and experience to the next level. We’re especially interested in candidates who thrive in collaborative relationships with other leaders and who enjoy building new structures and processes to support clinical excellence.  These roles provide administrative and clinical time, access to mentorship and deeper insight into the workings of a large medical group.  Two positions are MHMG clinical leaders at local health systems (Mid Coast Hospital & Stephens Memorial Hospital), the third will lead Medical Affairs at MHMG’s offices in South Portland.     We're thrilled to showcase the incredible experiences students had with our JMG Scrub Club! This program provided hands-on learning and exposure to careers in the healthcare industry, inspiring a new generation of passionate healthcare professionals. A special thank you to MaineHealth for their unwavering support and dedication to our students' futures. LifeFlight of Maine, thank you for the added excitement of letting our students tour one of your helicopters, making it both fun and educational for them to learn about the incredible work of your organization.     Founded in 2012 by Vicki Hayes, MD, Associate Professor of Family Medicine, and Shelly Chipman, MSN, RN, CSHE, Simulation Clinical Educator, Doc4aDay is a pipeline activity supported by medical student volunteers from Maine Track, which is a collaboration between MaineHealth and Tufts. Thirty-one high school students from Portland and Deering high schools participated with 16 medical student mentors last year. The event pairs each high school student with a current Maine Track medical student for immersion in a manikin-based scenario to experience obtaining patient information and clinical decision-making.
