Earlier this week I celebrated 15 years with the same organization (despite a name change in 2016). As I reflect on the growth both personally and professionally over the past 15 years it’s overwhelming. It's been said that we cultivate hearts of gratitude when we remember, are thankful for what we have, and trust that there is so much more in our futures!
Here is an abbreviated overview of my 15 year journey:
July 2008 - my wife and I had 1 child when I first met David Curtis, MBA. Myself and an RN were the first 2 clinicians hired for Residential Home Health West Michigan We drove EVERYWHERE! Kalamazoo, South Haven, Holland, Muskegon, Greenville, Ionia, etc.
2008-2010 I treated patients as a field Physical Therapist.
In 2010, I became a therapy supervisor to compliment the one nursing supervisor supporting our clinicians and patients.
In 2012, I was asked to lead as a Director of Operations for RHH West MI, helping to support a very small office staff and 1-2 salespeople. We were small, but gaining momentum.
Early in 2014 our sales team was rebuilt Josh Axelson had just joined the team. Alongside Josh, I was asked to assist with business development. It was here where I found my passion for connecting our home health and our great clinicians with patients. So in 2014, I transitioned from being a Director of Operations to Home Health Consultant.
In 2015 Mary Free Bed communicated publically they wanted to add a home health service line to their already amazing continuum. In collaboration with a team of people, I was fortunate enough to coordinate with both RHH and MFB to create Mary Free Bed at Home, and in June 2016 Mary Free Bed at Home was launched!
In Sept 2019 I transitioned from Regional Director of Sales to Administrator of MFB at Home. With help and insight from fellow colleagues, we continued to build on our solid foundation and cultivated fertile ground for our team to grow in all aspects.
Today I have the honor of serving and supporting a team of incredible people serving thousands of patients across West Michigan.
Remarkable growth has allowed for new positions and opportunities in all areas of our business. Our operations team is loaded with superstars. Our amazing clinicians are setting the standard in West Michigan for providing care and customer service at the highest level. And our home health consultants and TNL's are unmatched in their ability to educate the healthcare community, share patient stories, and help transition patients from one level of care to the next.
At the same time Mary Free Bed at Home has grown exponentially, so has my family, from 1 child to 8!!! (4 biologically and 4 via adoption). So today, I want to express how thankful and immeasurably grateful I am for everyone and all things both high and low that have shaped me both professionally and personally over the past 15 years!!! 🙏🎉🫶
