Last week, the Mechanical Contractors Association of America (MCAA) put on another fantastic WiMI National Conference in Cleveland, OH, from June 10th to 12th. Representing the DMV were 41 incredible women from various MCAMW Contractors, Plumbers & Gasfitters UA Local 5 and Steamfitters UA Local 602. Attendees had the opportunity to network with women and allies from across the country, engage in educational sessions with fantastic speakers, roundtable discussions, and a private event at the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame! Some of the session highlights were: "Navigating the Uncomfortable- Building Skills for Difficult" led by Alexander Willis, "Negotiation Essentials- Tips and Tricks for Success" led by Shaabini Alford and an uplifting closing session with Princess Sarah Culberson of Sierra Leone. If you are a #WomanInTheMechanicalIndustry and haven't attended a National WiMI Conference, please mark your calendars for next year (June 9-11) and join this incredible cohort!

From insightful sessions to hands-on experiences, Tuesday and Wednesday of our WiMI Leadership Summit brought a whirlwind of learning, exploration, and rejuvenation. Our journey began on Tuesday with Leah Gutmann's Happiness Skills session, setting the tone for positivity and growth. We then donned our PPE and delved into the real-world workings of a local job site, gaining invaluable insights along the way. After the tour, Mark Matteson helped us level up our communication game with a masterclass on public speaking. Wednesday greeted us with the perfect blend of tranquility and introspection as we embraced the morning with an instructor-led Yoga Session. Centered and focused, we embarked on our final day, led by Diane Beliveau, in a Transformational Leadership workshop. As we bid farewell to these incredible days, we carry with us a treasure trove of knowledge, connections, and memories. Here's to growth, community, and the endless possibilities that lie ahead for the #WomenInTheMechanicalIndustry! Thank you to our incredible Tuesday & Wednesday sponsors: Limbach, Harris, W.E. Bowers, BOLAND, EMCOR Government Services, Inc., Steamfitters UA Local 602 and Mechanical Contractors Association of America (MCAA)
