Leadership development center offering professional development seminars & immersion experiences for future leaders
About us
Founded in 1991, the non-partisan McConnell Center at the University of Louisville seeks to identify, recruit and nurture Kentucky's next generation of great leaders. Our core principles—leadership, scholarship and service—guide us as we (1) prepare top undergraduate students to become future leaders; (2) offer civic education programs for teachers, students and the public; and (3) conduct strategic leadership development for the US Army. U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell, a 1964 graduate of the university, along with UofL officials, founded the Center based on his belief that "Kentucky's future depends on inspiring talented, motivated leaders."

Happy 4th of July from the McConnell Center! 248 years ago today, the Continental Congress adopted the Declaration of Independence, severing the relationship between Great Britain and the American colonies and declaring the United States a free and independent nation. #IndependenceDay #4thofJuly #DeclarationofIndependence #ContinentalCongress This Independence Day, we are grateful for the sacrifice of those who came before us to let #freedom ring. 🇺🇸🔔

Happy Anniversary to the Kentucky State Parks! 100 years ago, the Kentucky General Assembly established a parks commission to find locations in the Commonwealth of unusual natural significance or important state and/or national history. The #McConnellCenter spends one week in August of each year at a state park for the annual #McConnellScholars Retreat. While at the parks, our students explore the local beauty and history, discuss important literature, and foster relationships that last long beyond their time at #UofL.
