About us
Welcome to McKinley – Where Hope Illuminates Our Path! At McKinley, we are guided by the HUMAN values that resonate deeply within us. We are a team made up of compassionate individuals. We exemplify being HOPEFUL. We are UNDERSTANDING. We are MORAL, by treating everyone with respect. We are AWESOME, by recognizing the unique qualities in each person. We are NURTURING, to those in our communities who are in need of support or specialized care. Our organization believes in healing through connection. Our trauma-informed approach acknowledges the resilience within every individual, empowering them to harness the strength of their natural support systems. Originally founded as a residential facility for orphaned children over a century ago, we have grown and evolved into a multifaceted organization dedicated to improving the lives of children and families in our community. Our mission is to be a leader in compassionately transforming the lives of youth and families through innovative education, counseling, and social services. Our goal is to inspire hope to achieve success. We accomplish this by serving Southern California through multiple locations and a diverse range of programs, including Behavioral Health, Special Education, Foster Care and Adoptions, Residential Care, and a Shelter Program that reunites immigrant children with their families. Each of our programs embodies our unwavering commitment to building a brighter, more inclusive future. Side by side, we pave the way for transformation, one life at a time. We invite you to join us on our journey of hope, compassion, and transformation. Together, we can create a brighter future for our youth, families, and communities. Let's live the HUMAN values that will shape a better world!

July is National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month, a crucial time for organizations to spotlight mental health in diverse communities. In May 2008, the U.S. House of Representatives designated July as Bebe Moore Campbell National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month to enhance access to mental health services through increased public awareness. Since then, numerous organizations have organized events and activities nationwide to support this cause. Mental illness affects one in four adults and one in 10 children in America. The U.S. Surgeon General reports that minorities are less likely to receive diagnoses and treatment, have limited access to mental health services, and often encounter lower-quality care. Additionally, mental illness is a leading cause of disability, yet nearly two-thirds of those with a diagnosable condition do not seek treatment. Racial and ethnic groups are even less likely to get help. At McKinley, we are committed to raising awareness during National Minority Mental Health Month. With our programs designed to assist with mental health and our new locations and offices in Southern California, we are dedicated to making a positive impact. We encourage our community to engage with this vital issue, learn more about mental health, and support those affected by mental illness. Happy 4th of July! As we gather to honor the spirit of freedom and unity, we would like to wish you a joyful and safe 4th of July. Independence Day is a time to celebrate our nation's history, reflect on the values of liberty and justice, and band together with the people we share this great country with. Because we also recognize that this day did not represent independence for everyone, we strive to create an organization, culture, and community that is inclusive and welcoming. Let's celebrate our independence, and differences, that make our communities strong and vibrant. Whether you're enjoying fireworks, barbecues, or spending quality time with loved ones, may your day be filled with happiness and gratitude. Stay safe, and thank you for being part of our community! #FourthOfJuly #IndependenceDay #Community #Unity
