Established in 1908, Mental Health Connecticut (MHC) has been leading the mental movement for more than 100 years with a focus on ensuring dignified services are accessible, recovery is recognized as achievable, and mental well-being is attainable for all Connecticut residents. MHC has witnessed improvements in Connecticut’s mental health service system since its establishment, however, there is still progress that needs to be made in order for the mental health of all Connecticut’s residents to be deemed important and supported.

As Mental Health Awareness Month comes to a close, we are celebrating the success of our #LetsFaceIt campaign, made possible through the support and partnership of ConnectiCare. The campaign, aimed at combating stigma and promoting mental health awareness, saw enthusiastic participation from individuals and more than a dozen organizations across the state. This year’s Let’s Face It campaign was our most successful fundraiser to date. We ended the campaign with a grand total of $85,000! ConnectiCare, a leading health plan in Connecticut, was the presenting sponsor for this year’s #LetsFaceIt campaign, generously matching donations up to $23,000. This partnership reflects ConnectiCare’s commitment to creating healthier futures for Connecticut residents. In addition to ConnectiCare, other top sponsors included Stamford Health, Wells Fargo, Liberty Bank - CT, DATTCO, INC, and Lockton Companies. Keep reading at https://lnkd.in/eSESy6B5 #letsfaceit
June is Pride Month, a time to support and celebrate our LGBTQ+ staff, participants and community members. It’s also an opportunity to bring attention to LGBTQ+ issues, recognize the incredible work of advocates and to reaffirm our commitment to health equity. Folks in LGBTQ+ community often face unique mental health challenges primarily due to facing stigma, discrimination, and bias in many forms. Anti-trans legislation, hate-based crimes, and discrimination do not overshadow Pride, but they can’t be ignored. Mental Health Connecticut is in support of the LGBTQ+ community and recognize that combatting homophobia and inequity is an ongoing commitment. We pledge to work towards safety in all forms for the wellbeing of our employees, program participants, and the communities we serve across the state of Connecticut.
