About us
The MetroHealth System is redefining health care by going beyond medical treatment to improve the foundations of community health and well-being: affordable housing, a cleaner environment, economic opportunity and access to fresh food, convenient transportation, legal help and other services. The system strives to become as good at preventing disease as it is at treating it. Founded in 1837, Cuyahoga County’s safety-net health system operates four hospitals, four emergency departments, more than 20 health centers and 40 additional sites.

We were thrilled to celebrate the recent opening of a new Physical Rehabilitation Clinic at our Broadway Health Center. The clinic represents an important milestone in expanding access to Musculoskeletal Physical Therapy services to the Broadway community and beyond. "MetroHealth’s Rehabilitation Institute is nationally regarded as among the best of the best at helping patients recover from strokes, brain injuries and spinal cord injuries," said Olusegun Ishmael, MD, MBA, System Chief Operating Officer. "Expanding physical therapy outpatient services "is a decision rooted in our commitment to providing the best possible Patient Experience, in this case by improving access and bringing critical services closer to where people live." The impact this clinic will have is significant. Since opening, there has already been fewer no-shows at our Main Campus. “Our providers strive every day to help our patients reduce pain, increase mobility and improve their quality of life. We want every patient to get back to the things they care about,” said Richard Wilson, MD, MS, Department Chair of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation. “And when we can offer those services as conveniently as possible – like right here in a neighborhood setting – that’s another huge plus.” Learn more about our services here: https://lnkd.in/gaNuzg3T

We just broke a record! On Monday, we cared for 115 patients in one day. For those counting, that totals more than 4,200 patients we have cared for since we launched with The MetroHealth System (Cleveland, OH) just three months ago. What do we attribute to our success? Our care team. To put it simply, they are beyond passionate for the work they do and the patients they serve. Every day, our team makes it look easy as they deliver high-quality and convenient virtual care for our patients. They are the reason why our patients feel heard, seen and cared for – and keep coming back. We also can thank our founders. As our board member Nabil Chehade said in a Becker's Healthcare article published yesterday, MetroHealth and MUSC Health working together to create Ovatient was truly "a match made in heaven." We are built by health systems, for health systems. And we're just getting started. https://lnkd.in/gZFgEKkK

A robust economy demands an efficient and well-functioning healthcare system. This reality highlights the critical importance of maintaining strong health systems across U.S. communities at all levels, as Dr. Airica Steed,Ed.D, MBA, RN, CSSMBB,FACHE,IASSC, president and CEO of The MetroHealth System (Cleveland, OH), points out in this video: https://hubs.ly/Q02DsDW60 Founded in 1837 during a severe U.S. economic downturn, MetroHealth continues to serve as the public, safety-net hospital system for Cuyahoga County, Ohio. It is but one living example of how resilient and adaptable health systems can be — an important reminder amid the headwinds organizations face today. In 2023, national healthcare spending increased to nearly $4.8 trillion with projections that it will continue to outpace GDP growth for the next decade. These forecasts are not set in stone. Today's health system leaders have the opportunity to bend the cost curve and drive measurable improvements in efficiency and care delivery within their organizations and through collaborative efforts. We invite you to join us for the Becker's Healthcare 12th Annual CEO + CFO Roundtable in November 2024, a 3.5-day event where healthcare leaders convene and share what it means to build and lead healthier systems that drive a healthier economy. Say hello to the future of healthcare! Today we were thrilled to welcome a new wave of medical professionals who have chosen to complete their residencies and fellowships at MetroHealth. This year's class presents an impressive mix of individuals from acclaimed medical schools from around the globe. Why? Our aim is to compile a diverse class that is a composite of the community we serve, said Abdulla Ghori, MD, Associate Dean for Graduate Medical Education, MetroHealth Campus, Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. "We want to make sure, to the best of our ability, that the class is a composite of the community MetroHealth serves. Underrepresented minorities. Languages such as Arabic, Chinese and Spanish that are spoken by immigrant patient population. Members of the LGBTQ+ community. People with broad range of backgrounds and life experience. We like to get a mix of everything."
