What you need to know about the U.S. Department of Labor's now effective Overtime Final Rule. Effective July 1, employers are required to pay employees salaries of at least $43,888 per year ($844 per week) to remain exempt from overtime pay for working more than 40 hours. On January 1, 2025, the salary level then goes up again to $58,656 per year ($1,128 per week), and beginning July 1, 2027, the salary threshold will be automatically adjusted for inflation every three years. Nonprofits need to be prepared for this new overtime rule to ensure labor law compliance. About us
Nonprofits are a force for good. We're here to help. Our mission is to inform, promote, connect and strengthen individual nonprofits and Minnesota's nonprofit sector. We accomplish our mission through: + Education and professional development for nonprofit staff; + Research on nonprofit sector trends, tax, and budget issues; + Advocacy at local, state, and federal levels; + Public policy and civic engagement education; and + Cost saving partnership offerings for nonprofit members. MCN was founded in 1987 to meet the increasing information needs of nonprofits and to convene nonprofits to address issues facing the sector. We are the largest state association of nonprofits in the U.S. Through MCN, nonprofits join together across interest areas to work on issues of common concern to all.

I look forward to presenting on Transformative Storytelling Aligned with Social Change at the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits' 2024 Nonprofit Fundraising Conference! Join us as we explore how to articulate the role of your nonprofit's mission in educating donors about historical inequities, and why this journey is essential for philanthropic professionals and the fundraising community. Hope to see you at the session!

I just got an update on the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits Fundraising Conference which I'm speaking at next week — they have nearly 550 attendees registered, more than in the previous year and reaching pre-pandemic attendance! So if you planned to register and haven't yet, you may want to do that to snag some of the last remaining registrations as they are capping attendance. https://lnkd.in/gE5VWswT

We're already looking forward to this year's Greater Minnesota Summit, hosted by the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits and local organizations in Walker on September 19th. Early bird registration ends August 1st. Too often, nonprofit leaders are expected to operate at new levels and in new ways with increasingly limited resources. This year's summit's theme, Grounding Ourselves in a Changing World, will invite attendees to connect, learn together, share information, all while enjoying beautiful Walker, Minnesota.
