Before the pandemic, my then-employer rejected remote work. "It's impossible to be efficient this way". When I returned 3 years later, there was barely anyone working from the office. How come? Well, there were a few major technical obstacles, including data security and file access, but those were sorted fairly early. The main issue for management, as far as I know, was the concern about teamwork.
