For too long, care issues have been considered personal issues and have been left up to families to find solutions. Caring Across Generations organized an event that centered around conversations between leaders across the Biden Administration and care providers from across the country. It was a great opportunity to see care workers authentically share their lived experiences and express the need for investments in the care economy, and to have the administration champion that vision. Together, we must advocate for those caring for our loved ones in our community because #CareComesFirst! We heard from Celina Reyes from the state of Massachusetts, who shared her story as a family child care provider of 20 years. Celina emphasized the role that federal stabilization funds played not only in keeping her small business afloat during the pandemic but also in expanding her staff to deliver needed care during a crucial time. She reflected on her drive to further her education to provide the highest quality services, and the need for recognition of the early childhood educator profession. shalanda young, Jennifer Klein, Neera Tanden

NAEYC was glad to see the Senate Finance Committee hold a hearing on federal solutions to our nation's child care crisis this week, with witnesses from across the country testifying about the importance of ongoing attention and investment to address the challenges that educators and families continue to face. Fatima Goss Graves, CEO and president of National Women's Law Center, lifted up the importance of “sustained and robust funding” while Katharine B. Stevens , CEO and president of Center on Child and Family Policy, told lawmakers that “children's care and education from birth through age 4 is as significant to their development as is schooling from age 5-18.” Watch the full hearing here and share your thoughts about federal solutions to the child care challenges in your community: https://lnkd.in/efTaFsmx
