This past weekend, the National Aeronautic Association attended Air Sport member U.S. Parachute Association (USPA)'s Board Meeting in Philadelphia. USPA holds two board meetings annually to discuss important topics such as a safety & training, competition, finance & budget, and membership. With 22 board members from across the United States, the USPA Board of Directors and staff are dedicated to ensuring the safe and enjoyable continuation of skydiving in the U.S. #skydiving #safety #training #boardmeeting #airsport #aviation

Over the next few weeks the Academy of Model Aeronautics will host over 700 competitors from around the country followed by a global competition with more than 200 competitors from around the world through the National Aeronautic Association and FAI - World Air Sports Federation, a part of the International Olympic Committee – IOC. Good luck to all competitors.

THE NAA HONORS AMERICAN ICON JOE HENRY ENGLE Engle's career was marked by unique achievements that set him apart in aviation. He flew over 185 different types of aircraft and amassed over 14,700 flying hours. NAA President and CEO, Amy (Spowart) Marino said, “That so few have heard of Joe is astonishing and a testament to his humility. He was a force of nature when it came to piloting aircraft, and his passion to soar was greater than his desire to be known. I will share his accomplishments as long as people listen. He was an extraordinary pilot and an inspirational human. Now, he is forever legendary.” Joe received the prestigious NAA Robert J Collier Trophy in 1981, the highest award given in the United States for aeronautics, for the improvement of the concept of manned reusable spacecraft with fellow astronauts John Young, Robert Crippen and Richard Truly. Greenfield, a leading voice at the NAA for over 30 years, is recognized for his exceptional leadership and influence in the international air sports community. His service to the United States National Air Sports Control and the entire international air sports community, marked by his exceptional management and recording of aviation records, earned him the prestigious FAI - World Air Sports Federation Silver Medal in 2012.
