The good news: Hydropower’s reliability means it can play an important role in a decarbonized electrical grid. The bad news: The hydropower #workforce is already experiencing major transitions, with increasing rates of worker retirement and the entry of new workers to the industry. See how the new NREL-developed Knowledge Sharing and Succession Planning Toolkit is supporting #hydropower organizations through the transition: bit.ly/NRELKS-SPToolkit

Perovskite solar cells have promise as next-gen #solar photovoltaic (PV) technology with high-performance and low production costs compared to silicon. What stands in the way of commercialization of perovskite materials is stability and durability and a lack of testing in outdoor real-world environments. New research from NREL and its partners uncovers a special material that when placed within the perovskite solar cell helps retain high efficiency. This material also demonstrates improved ultraviolet stability in outdoor testing independently verified through the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)’s Perovskite PV Accelerator for Commercializing Technologies (PACT) center. Learn more about how NREL is helping advance #perovskite solar PV cells. https://bit.ly/4cNuv4W

ASEAN cities are urbanizing rapidly and facing immense challenges in meeting rising demands for food, #energy, and water. Amid this pressure, how can urban environments be reimagined to prioritize resilience, #sustainability, and health? Enter the Integrated Urban Services (IUS) program! Launched in 2021 under the US-ASEAN Smart Cities Partnership, IUS aims to transform urban service provision in ASEAN cities. Led by NREL with implementation support from @Regenerative Impact Ventures, IUS worked with local leaders to develop climate-smart, integrated #infrastructure solutions tailored to regional priorities. Through technical assistance provided to Iskandar Malaysia and Cagayan de Oro, Philippines, IUS pioneered innovative business plans and market-driven approaches, addressing food security through the integration of food, energy, #water, and waste systems. Designed as replicable models, these initiatives promote high performance, low carbon regional #EconomicDevelopment through novel public-private partnership structures. 🔗 Curious about how IUS is paving the way for a sustainable urban future?
