Our very own Charles Peterson is a crowd favorite at National Coalition of STD Directors STI Engage discussing remote collection STI testing in the Morning Plenary: The Future in Your Hands: Defining the Role of Self-Collect Testing. The unimitable Barbara Van Der Pol (University of Alabama at Birmingham) set the scene of the roadmap towards STI home-testing and Preeti Pathela (NEW YORK CITY DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH & MENTAL) moderated a discussion on what health departments should consider when thinking about remote-testing with panelists John White (Preventx), Alicia Steines (LINN COUNTY PUBLIC HEALTH DEPARTMENT), Esmeralda Quintero (Eastern Idaho Public Health). Charlie highlighted the importance of intentional partnerships with community based organizations who are a known quantity in the marginalized communities most affected by STIs. He also made a big shoutout to AIDS Foundation of Chicago’s IL House Bill 5417 Connection to HIV Testing and Linkage to Care (HIV TLC) Act, which among other things would require IL payors to cover the cost of HIV and STI self testing. Neelyx is happy to announce our participation in this year's World of Chocolate earlier this month with ~950 other attendees. World of Chocolate is AIDS Foundation Chicago (AFC)'s annual fundraising event, raising $2.9 million dollars since its inception. The chocolate delicacies to savory creations, runway-ready outfits and punchboard prizes, also helped to make it a night to remember.
