Partner at Nelson Mullins; Business Lawyer; Dispute Resolution Strategist; Diversity Champion; Solutionist; Mindful Leader

Last week in Toronto, we gathered at the South Asian Bar Association (SABA) of North America’s annual conference to build community, learn from each other, and celebrate the progress we have collectively made. It was great meeting new friends and reconnecting with old ones. This year three of my colleagues from Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough joined me to represent our firm at the conference and this is a testament to the firm’s commitment to diversity (both at our firm and in the profession) and the interest the firm takes in developing its attorneys at all levels.

  • We are proud to announce that our partner, Jenny Covington, has been honored with the Pro Bono Legal Service Award by the Legal Services Corporation (LSC). This recognition celebrates her dedication to closing the justice gap for underserved Minnesotans and members of Tribal Nations. Jenny's impactful work with Anishinabe Legal Services, assisting low-income individuals on the Leech Lake, Red Lake, and White Earth Reservations, has been instrumental. Her efforts in custody matters, protection orders, and supporting victims of family violence exemplify her commitment to equal access to justice. Jenny's recognition will take place during an LSC Board reception in Minneapolis this July. Congratulations to her and all the award recipients for their unwavering commitment to bridging the justice gap nationwide. Read more: https://bit.ly/3xVNZ8X

  • The FTC has filed a complaint to block Tempur Sealy’s proposed acquisition of Mattress Firm, citing antitrust concerns. As the world’s largest mattress supplier and the largest mattress retailer in the U.S., their merger could limit competition by restricting rivals' access to Mattress Firm. Learn more about what this redacted antitrust complaint teaches us about creating problematic documents in transactions with partner Denise Gunter: https://lnkd.in/gbNwjKC5
