About us
New Ground works to break the cycle of homelessness for Long Island Veterans and families. We provide intensive Social Work and education services to struggling adults and children, working to eliminate the root causes of poverty so they can become and remain self-supporting. New Ground identifies and then responds to those at risk with programs that provide educational, technical, and emotional support. Our critical programs and services empower those we serve to make advancements in areas of education, employment, financial literacy, as well as parenting and other essential life skills, enabling them to function independently. New Ground helps families to create brighter futures, now and for generations to come.

We’re pleased to share The Grove Apartments groundbreaking ceremony and remarks—held in East Patchogue on May 17. The Grove is a 55 unit, mixed-use affordable and supportive housing development in East Patchogue. From our President, Dave Gallo: “A groundbreaking requires vision. In this case, it was the vision of Focus East Patchogue, the Town of Brookhaven, Suffolk County and New York State Homes & Community Renewal. It was the vision especially of our partners at New Ground Inc. and The Kulka Group, who saw not a blighted site, but all of its potential—Sunday breakfasts, movie nights, birthday celebrations. All of the life that will happen here, in safe, beautiful, affordable housing for its residents.
