📊 Oilfields - From Birth to the Afterlife. A 10 Part Series. Part 2 Is It Feasible or Just Greasy-ble? The Hilarious Truth About Oilfield Studies Welcome to the wild world of oilfield feasibility studies, where we answer the burning question: "Is this hole in the ground worth more than my entire life savings?" Picture a room full of #engineers and #economists, armed with calculators and enough coffee to fill an oil tanker. Their mission? To predict the future of a potential oilfield with all the accuracy of a fortune cookie. First up, we have the yield estimators. These optimistic souls are tasked with guessing how much oil is hiding underground. Their favorite phrase? "Give or take a few million barrels." It's like trying to guess how many jellybeans are in a jar, if the jar was buried under a mountain and the jelly beans were constantly moving. Then we have the cost estimators, also known as the "Dream Crushers." Their job is to figure out how much it'll cost to get that oil out of the ground. They use a complex formula that involves the current price of oil, the depth of the well, and how many lattes the CEO had that morning. Finally, we have the conceptual analysts. These are the creative types who get to imagine what the #oilfield might look like. It's like playing with Legos, except each brick costs a million dollars and is covered in crude oil. So next time you hear about a new oilfield being developed, remember the unsung heroes of the feasibility study. They're the reason we're not drilling random holes in your backyard looking for the next big strike! Part 3 coming next week.

🛢 Oilfields - From Birth to the Afterlife. A 10 Part Series. Part 1 From Black Gold to Black Comedy: The Wild World of Oilfield Exploration Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the thrilling world of oilfield exploration, where #geologists and #geophysicists play a high-stakes game of "Find the Underground Milkshake"! Picture this: teams of highly educated professionals wandering the earth, using fancy gadgets to listen for the sound of prehistoric plants whispering, "We're down here!" It's like a grown-up version of hide-and-seek, but instead of finding your little brother behind the curtains, you're trying to locate millions of barrels of oil trapped beneath miles of rock. Our intrepid explorers use an arsenal of tools that would make James Bond jealous. Seismic analysis? That's just a fancy way of saying we create tiny earthquakes and see what happens. Gravity surveys? We're basically asking the earth, "Does this oil make my crust look big?" And don't get me started on remote sensing - it's like stalking the planet via satellite. But the real fun begins when we strike #OilandGas. Suddenly, it's like winning the lottery, except instead of a giant check, you get a geyser of black gold that makes everyone smell sorta like a paint store for weeks. So next time you fill up your car, remember the brave souls who made it possible - the oil explorers, boldly going where no dipstick has gone before! Part 2 coming next week.
