The Guardian recently reported that Southern China has been hit by floods, and North China is suffering from drought. Flooding in Meizhou city has caused 𝟰𝟳 𝗱𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 $𝟱𝟬𝟬 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗹𝗼𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀. This isn’t the first time floods have led to such devastations. Bangladesh also faces severe flooding due to its location and climate change. To tackle this, Omdena's Bangladesh Local Chapter created 𝗙𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗱𝗚𝘂𝗮𝗿𝗱, a system that uses advanced models to 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝘁 𝗳𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗱𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗳𝘆 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵-𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗸 𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀 with 90% accuracy. This includes an interactive web app for real-time forecasts and maps, helping communities and authorities prepare better for floods. Detecting AI-generated misinformation presents unique challenges. Unlike text-based falsehoods, which often contain linguistic cues or logical inconsistencies, AI-generated images can 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝘁 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗴𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲. An article by The Guardian reveals the real truth about these banks: -The report finds that their environmental guidelines cover only 29% of Amazon's area. -Banks provided $8.25 billion to oil and gas projects in the region over 20 years. -The majority of funding is through syndicated bonds, which lack transparency and accountability. -Critics argue banks prioritize reputation over real environmental impact.
