As we continue to pick up the pieces after Monday’s fire at Camp OBR, your outpouring of support for our mission means the world to us. At its core, the heart of our mission is taking care of people. Whether we’re rushing to disasters, organizing events for veterans and first responders, or hosting survivors of military loss at Camp OBR, taking care of people is what drives us, what fuels our passion, and what defines who we are. This week dealt us a gut punch, and you’ve all shown up to take care of us. To say we’re humbled and grateful is an understatement. Your dedication fuels our resolve, and we promise to honor it every day. So far in 2024, 344 devoted volunteers from across the country have deployed to 10 disaster events and organized 57 non-disaster events providing more than 98,000 meals. Just last week while deployed to Lake Jackson, Texas after Hurricane Beryl, we also welcomed young adult survivors of military loss to Camp OBR. Here they experienced transformative moments through culinary therapy, connection, and outdoor adventures. This is demanding work, often hot, logistically complicated, and hectic, but we wouldn't trade it for the world. As we navigate through this disaster, we want to assure you that with your steadfast support, we’re stronger than ever. We stand ready to care for people whenever and wherever they need us, and no disaster will ever change that. Thank you for standing with us.
