We are thrilled to announce the launch of the Direct-Use Product Emissions Database (DPED), a new tool to help retailers and their suppliers quantify emissions stemming from consumers’ use of their products. Developed in partnership with the Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA), DPED has been a true group effort, with input coming from retailers like Target, Lowe's Companies, Inc., Best Buy, and many others, plus an ex officio committee that included industry and regulatory leaders. The database contains emissions data for over 180 product types, and is designed to fill the gap in consistent scope 3, category 11 data. That's a wrap on Optera Team Week 2024 🎉 Our hybrid/remote team gathers in person just once a year to celebrate, strategize, connect, and renew our energy to tackle climate change with each other's support. From prototyping and brainstorming to horseback riding, crafts, biking, hiking, video games, archery, you name it...this year's Team Week was a fantastic time!

As leading retailers set climate goals and report on their emissions, measuring greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions generated by the use of the products they sell in a uniform and consistent way is key. So, as a retailer, how do you find that data? ICYMI: RILA recently launched the Direct-Use Product Emissions Database (DPED). With emissions data for more than 180 product types, the DPED provides consistent and comparable scope 3 category 11 emissions data to help retailers measure, compare, and communicate downstream GHG emissions for energy-consuming products. In its inaugural year, the DPED is available to all retailers at no cost and can also be leveraged by consultants or software providers for work with clients.
