Let's talk summer internships... Only this time, not for law students, but for our very own recruiting boutique, OpusLex Partners!
OpusLex Partners is thrilled to have Devin Thomas as an intern this summer. Devin is a rising junior at the University of Georgia (go Dawgs!) and hails from beautiful Aspen, CO.
In the month that she has been with us, Devin has played a crucial part in our ongoing quest for data optimization and organization. What does that mean?
She is reviewing resumes and candidate profiles in our database to ensure that we have contact information, website biography links, LinkedIn profiles, and most importantly, tagging candidates with the appropriate practice areas and specialities (i.e. corporate -> finance -> equipment financing) so that we can
a) more quickly identify the best candidates for our clients' needs and b) inform candidates about the roles that are best suited for them.
We sat down with Devin to learn a bit more about her and her interest in working with us. Thank you, Devin, for your hard work and for choosing us to be a part of your summer.
Why OpusLex?
I was interested in pursuing an internship with a legal recruiting firm because I have an interest in law and a passion for connecting with people. Beyond my aspiration to attend law school, I am also fascinated by the opportunity to engage with professionals and learn firsthand about the diverse career opportunities available. This internship allows me to combine my passion for law with my love for connecting with people as I explore how legal recruiting helps to shape careers and foster professional growth.
What have you learned and enjoyed while interning with us?
My internship has been amazing. It has been eye-opening to see how strategically recruiters work to match candidates and firms. I've enjoyed learning how legal recruiters work to bridge the gap between employers and candidates. I also have enjoyed learning and understanding how recruiters assess candidate qualifications beyond just academic credentials. I have learned how soft skills like communication are vital in candidate evaluations.
Tell us about your studies at UGA!
I am a rising junior at the University of Georgia. I am pursuing a public relations major coupled with a double minor in business and law, jurisprudence, and the state. My studies have equipped me with communication, research, and writing skills that I have found valuable throughout my internship.
