Luis's work ethic and determination have paved the way for his next big adventure: pursuing degrees in Political Science and Criminal Justice at the University of Missouri! He dreams of working in National Security. Luis has been a program participant at Outreach since Grade 1. Through Outreach's summer employment program, Luis has worked as a facility assistant and front desk receptionist showcasing his leadership skills. Who will you serve: Older Adults When: First and third Friday of each month How Many: Approximately 60 older adults Purpose: Supporting older adults in maintaining their independence and positive well-being through fun and regular social activities. Ways to Help Provide a Meal: Supply a meal for the older adults Prepare a Meal: Cook a meal for the older adults Sponsor a Luncheon: If cooking isn't your thing, you can still help by sponsoring a luncheon with a contribution. Provide Entertainment: Share musical performances, nature lessons, or family-style games. Setup and Cleanup: Assist with setting up and cleaning up after the luncheon. Interested? She says "Outreach is a place where volunteers use their creative talents and skills for God. From tutors to drivers and life skill trainers, education consultants to antique experts, we have an impressive lineup of volunteers who care for individuals and devote time to serving the community. I enjoy being a connection point because there are people who want to help but just don’t know how and where to start." "As a Christian, I hold firmly to the belief that we are created to serve and live in community with the Lord and our neighbors. In a busy world, it’s hard to look outside the comfort zone of family, friends, and church life. Our volunteers inspire faith in action! Lisa volunteers her time as a tutor at our York Center and also serves at Jubilee Furniture. Since the fall of 2019, Lisa has been a part of our York Middle School program. Lisa loves connecting with children over snacks and engaging in conversations. She's continually amazed by the insightful and thoughtful nature of the kids and treasures the relationships she's built over time. She says, "I love when children run over to me and give me a hug." Lisa firmly believes in the consistent presence of a mentor, showing love and care in shaping young minds. Beyond her work with the children, Lisa has also found a new interest - learning and researching furniture and collaborating closely with Kandy, the store manager. She enjoys helping shoppers at Jubilee Furniture, sharing moments with them, and even offering a prayer.
