With the support of Prairie Meadows, we can continue to do just that! We are pleased to share Orchard Place received $95,000 from Prairie Meadows through the Youth Sports & Recreational Grant and the Community Betterment Grant. The 2024 Moonlight Classic is complete! Despite the summer heat, 240 bicyclists rode the streets of downtown Des Moines to shine a light on children’s mental health. Forty-eight sponsors including long time Presenting Sponsor, Sammons Financial Group Companies helped raise over $100,000 to support the critical work of Orchard Place. It takes a village to host this one-of-a-kind event. Thank you to the officers of the Des Moines Police and Iowa State Patrol, Des Moines Fire Department, the Iowa Taproom for hosting, and the 48 route volunteers. While psychiatrists focus more on medical science and medication therapy, a psychologist focuses on psychotherapy, counseling and behavioral therapy. These types of treatment are essential for improving emotional and mental well-being and are often provided in addition to medication therapy. Leann Andre joined Orchard Place Child Guidance Center/Child Care Resource & Referral in 2009. She began as a Curriculum Specialist, offering trainings about curriculum implementation to child care providers and then coached those programs to implement the curriculum. In 2011, Leann was selected as one of the consultant supervisors, and she continues in that role. She enjoys sharing her child care experience and knowledge with her consultants and the child care programs in our area. Leann enjoys being involved with Orchard Place and has become the CGC representative for the Spelling Bee. She encourages all to become involved whether it is baking treats, making food for our CGC lunch fundraisers, cheering on our Spelling Bee Team or actually spelling for our team, Leann is there to cheer her team on!
