Last night was a blast of fun! We had a great time at our bowling event, celebrating our new office and warmly welcoming our summer interns Darrow Hartman and Ella VanderMolen. A big shout-out to Dan Kaufman and Brandon Wong from Disco Network for joining us—it was fantastic having you there for an evening of strikes, spares, and great conversations! We also had a chance to catch up with Dave Bottoms and Sree Kamireddy last night at their offsite event, which coincidentally took place at the same venue where our team was also hosting our event!

While our office is still taking shape, seeing our plaque in place fills us with excitement! Every detail is coming together as we get closer to opening our doors!

We just moved into our new office at 150 Post Street in downtown San Francisco last Friday! A huge shoutout to Kevin Grandon for helping us out with his Cybertruck – it made moving a breeze! 🚚 And a big thank you to Elsa Birch and Colton Wolk for all their hard work in making the move smooth and efficient. We're busy setting up the space and can’t wait to have everything ready. Looking forward to having everyone over soon!

Welcome, Mialy! When you need complex customer data analyzed the right way, you need a computational biologist! (it's a jungle out there!)

AWS Athena and Glue are good buddies, but sometimes they are not friendly to us. We used Glue crawler to build the tables with deeply nested fields and our queries failed from time to time with errors like HIVE_CANNOT_OPEN_SPLIT. Rerun the crawler to rebuild the table catalog usually solves the problem, but it's still annoying. That's why we are exploring a data lake format #apachepaimon with self-catalog management and using #apacheflink to read/write it. No regular partition projections, no slow schema crawlings and no need to maintain extra metadata tables to avoid full data scans.
