About us

RadicalxChange (RxC) is a global movement for next-generation political economies. It advances plurality, equality, community, and decentralization through upgrades of democracy, markets, the data economy, the commons, and identity. Founded by Glen Weyl during the wake of public discussion about his book “Radical Markets” in 2018, RadicalxChange Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to advancing the RxC movement, building community, and educating about democratic innovation. RxC connects people from all walks of life - ranging from social scientists and technologists to artists and activists. Thanks again Democracia en Red and Florencia Caffarone for the organization of this event. Audrey Tang and E. Glen Weyl are a beacon of hope for people around the world trying to re-imagine democracy and rebuild our social fabric. Audrey said it best: « the Plurality book is not just about digital democracy, it needs to be a story that anyone can tell » RadicalxChange Foundation and myself are looking forward to more collaboration with the #plurality community in CABA! Thanks Sebastián Calderón for the enlightening moderation.

🌍 Seminar on the Governance of Digital Platforms and digital human rights 🌍 We live in an era where digital platforms shape our interactions, knowledge and decisions. Recognizing the urgency of navigating this complex landscape ethically and effectively, the I4T Global Knowledge Network is pleased to announce a working seminar dedicated to its 2024 roadmap. I4T Global Knowledge Network is UNESCO trusted knowledge partner to examine how I4T Guidelines around the World are applied to improve on "Governance of Digital Platforms". The event is endorsed by T20 Brasil as a side-event preparing for G20 in the Autumn. 📅 Date : February 21-22, 2024 📍 Location : Paris This seminar will be an opportunity to explore the "I4T Global Knowledge Network", through enriching presentations and interactive workshops. 🎯 Our goal ? This is the foundational seminar for our Network. Its goal is to set the course of action for 2024. This exceptional year requires the full attention of the knowledge community to help regulators with many challenging decisions. 🔍 Why participate ? - Leverage your impact on digital platform governance. - Meet and exchange with your peers, international specialists of digital space regulation. - Contribute to the construction of ethical and responsible digital governance. This event is designed to offer a full-hybrid experience and real impact for remote delegates. Register now to secure your seat within one of 3 teams during the event. There are also still (very limited) availability in-person options, if you are part of a research lab or a think tank dedicated to these issues. Click here to register from the dedicated I4T 2024 Seminar website : https://lnkd.in/eezWqCZu Your presence will make a difference because the challenge is bigger than any of us. Together, let's explore paths towards more inclusive, transparent and accountable digital governance. #DigitalRegulation #ReliableMedia #DigitalRights #UNESCO #I4T

Civic Tech's Reality Check: Beyond Digital Dreams and Open Gov Quick Fix What does it take for civic tech to go beyond digital solutions and truly transform citizen engagement in today's society?" (CivicTech for Democracy 2/4) During the “Getting Civic tech right for Democracy” day at OECD - OCDE, several voices confirmed that Civic Tech had given up on their dream of an invisible hand of digital (or data), realizing that digitalization cures none of society issue on its own. In other words, the Civic tech community are grown-ups now 😜 It’s good to feel public institutions looking at the community differently and take us more seriously. We are proud of our real breakthroughs, because we have hard-earned them. These breakthroughs encompass a wide range of citizen engagement projects that weren’t working in traditional campaigns. From Adrien Duguet, Alicia Combaz or Matt Stempeck. From CitizenLab, Open Knowledge Foundation or Open Government Partnership. The audience heard a trove of compelling stories about civic tech accomplishment and partnerships with public institutions. Such engagements can imply a citizen participation at local level to express priorities from the people, including the ones most out of touch with public administrations. Other projects enabled some feed-back about a bill to be introduced through Parliament. Others again were instrumental for a participative public budgeting exercise. At RadicalxChange Foundation, we did our share from plural voting sessions at the Colorado Senate to Climate Change participative public policies at borough level in NYC (find out more in the with the link in comments). We believe that CT can be used to deeply redesign our institutions and not be used simply as a quick fix. It needs to start at a local level, focus on conversations and education vs the outcome and leverage technology. As #takeaway #2 let’s say that  “So far local works and national sucks”. public policy education and collective deliberation at neighborhood level are pivotal to regain a larger trust and engagement Debates will carry on to clarify within the Community. Please comment below about you own feeling What about the social contract the Civic tech platform ? Should Civic Tech Comply to a framework of principles? Should Civic Tech stakeholders commit to disclose what collective goals are prioritized depending on projects? We will continue tomorrow with our 3rd installment of the feedback series: Digital Public Infrastructures: Catalyst for Societal Change. Thanks again OECD Public Governance for the invite and all participants for making such a vibrant event! #DeliberativeDemocracy #DemocraticInnovation #CitizenLab #digitaldemocracy #civictech  #CitizensAssemblies
