Congratulations to another round of Birmingham Open for Business awardees! 💫 Six entrepreneurs (representing three business concepts) who applied for the Open Stage of the program were awarded a cumulative $250,000. These funds will be used to help these dedicated business owners cross the finish line in opening their brick-and-mortar spaces in the Magic City. Thank you to our partner, the PNC Foundation, for powering this initiative to fund small businesses in Birmingham. The party isn't over yet though — applications for a second round of the Ready Stage are set to go live next Friday, July 26! Visit https://lnkd.in/eVW_Py_D to learn more.

These youth know how to make an impact! This weekend, they teamed up to clean up the Woodlawn neighborhood and removed over half a dozen bags of trash and litter from the streets. Thanks to Woodlawn United for providing all the materials we needed to help keep the community beautiful!

Meet Jamie, REV Birmingham’s Communications Manager (and chief office Swiftie)! 👋 Jamie has called Alabama home for 14 years and is a graduate of the University of Montevallo. She joined our team of yaysayers one year ago and has since spent her time with REV crafting dynamic stories by way of strategic content planning, public and media relations, and other marketing strategies. In her free time, you can find her exploring Birmingham, plucking a tune on her ukulele, or trying her darndest to spin clay into art.

Wall Street Journal reporter Konrad Putzier recently penned an article on the power of busking in revitalizing downtowns across the country. Featured heavily in the piece was Live on 20th, a seasonal program led by REV that brings quality entertainment to Birmingham’s main street, 20th North. Swipe to read the highlights, and click below to check out the full article. https://lnkd.in/evdhJKbc

Recently, we gathered at Woodlawn Marketplace to catch up with and celebrate past Magic City Match awardees. We are so proud to have awarded funding and professional services to these incredible entrepreneurs through this program powered by our friends at Prosper. They are each more than deserving, and we cannot wait to see how they continue making Birmingham more vibrant!

Birmingham is known for its rich history, and this year, with support from the MLB, the Magic City is host to a first-of-its-kind tribute to the Negro Leagues at the historic Rickwood Field. ⚾ With so many new eyes on the city, taking in and experiencing the talent, opportunity, creativity and magic it has to offer, we hope they will spread the word and invite others to do the same. After all, it’s so nice to have them in Birmingham!😉 #REVBham #YayBham #InstagramBham #BirminghamAlabama #BirminghamAL #InBirmingham #BhamAL
