Providing support, resources and guidance former foster care youth need to successfully transition to adulthood.

About us

Ready for Life (RFL) is a solution-based skill center supporting youth aging out of foster care in Pinellas County by providing homelessness prevention, education and employment, and lifeline support networks. RFL is a family environment where young people find basic needs like food and meal kits; personal and hygiene supplies; caring support; and have access to laundry and shower facilities. We understand that until immediate basic needs are met, it is nearly impossible to contemplate the future...and RFL believes that all young people deserve the opportunity for a successful future. RFL offers a unique Educational Learning Lab program; a full-time Mental Health Counselor, through a partnership with the Pinellas County Public Defender's Office; legal services provided through the Community Law Program, supported by the St. Petersburg Bar Association; Mentor Program; Youth Council; Mommy & Me; Keys to Independence; and more.

  • Our annual Home for the Holidays is quickly approaching! We celebrate each young adult just like other families celebrate one another, and we help to fill in that gaping hole in their hearts that can become even bigger during the Holidays. With over one hundred young adults and little ones to serve, we can only do this with your help. Become a part of this important Family Tradition, letting former foster care youth know they are NOT alone. Get involved at https://lnkd.in/e4CHwDBA and please share with your coworkers, clubs/organizations, friends, and family.

  • Years ago we asked a group of the former foster youth we serve, “Is there something you know now that you wish you knew before aging out of the foster care system?" Becky replied, "I wish I knew what it would feel like to spend the holidays alone. When you are in foster care, someone has to take you. When you get out, no one does." From there, Home for the Holidays was created.🎄 🎁 Help us let former foster care youth know they are NOT alone this Holiday season. Put up an Angel Tree at your company or group, fulfill a wishlist yourself, sponsor a stocking, or volunteer with us at Home for the Holidays. Visit https://lnkd.in/e4CHwDBA to get involved!

  • We are so excited to introduce our partnership program with SPCA Tampa Bay called Paws for Progress! This 12-week program blends the core missions of Ready for Life and SPCA Tampa Bay: "Change and transform the lives of animals and foster youth, together, through caring and compassion." Each week participants volunteer with the animals and then take part in a group session and lunch together. The goal of this program is to teach former foster care youth volunteerism, employability, compassion, and resiliency. Learn more by watching the video below and read Mya’s perspective of participating in Paws for Progress at rflp.info/paws
