We're so lucky to have employees who care about our mission, and their passion comes through in everything they do-- from the advisors enrolling participants over the phone, to designers creating catalogs, to the IT specialists who keep our technology running. Every Road Scholar employee contributes to making our mission of serving older adults possible.
I'm excited to announce that I am joining Road Scholar as their full-time Print Design Manager! This marks a new chapter in my career, and I'm incredibly grateful for this opportunity. While my time at Hasbro came to an end last December, it provided me with valuable experience and lasting connections. I'm thankful for the lessons learned and the wonderful colleagues I met during my tenure there. Since then, I've had the pleasure of working as a contract Creative Production Manager at Road Scholar, supporting the team during the Director of Creative and Design's maternity leave. This experience allowed me to further hone my design skills, manage and collaborate with talented designers, and streamline process. I also had the opportunity to work with fantastic writers, marketing managers and many other wonderful colleagues. Today, on what would have been my 10th anniversary at Hasbro (excluding temp work), is my first day permanently joining the Road Scholar team. As Print Design Manager, I'll have the privilege of leading their talented team and working on impactful projects. Additionally, I'm passionate about Road Scholar's mission - providing educational and enriching experiences for older adults around the world. I love the positive impact they have on participant’s lives and community. While unexpected transitions can be challenging, they can also lead to exciting new possibilities. To those navigating career changes, know that these experiences can pave the way for unexpected fulfillment.

Thanks to Sandra Siepak for having our PR Director Kelsey Knoedler Perri on your show Our Ventura TV to talk about Road Scholar's mission of lifelong learning!

I've reached a milestone: it's getting easier to listen to my own voice recorded! ... Though I still detect the Midwestern accent I've tried to eliminate, and I remind myself of my mom on screen. :-) There are worse things! It was delightful to share the screen with Sandra Siepak on her "Our Ventura TV" talk show. Thank you so much for having me! [🔗 to video in comments!]

We love it when our participants' stories are shared with the world. They tell the story of Road Scholar better than we ever could.

I love to see a story in print. Especially when it's so beautifully written. ... In college, I loved my magazine writing course the most and thought I might follow that route for a career. Alas, fate led me down another path, and I ended up on the other side of writing. But I still feel grateful that I get to have a hand in sharing stories like Dan and Jean's with the world-- stories of older adults defying stereotypes and exploring the world. Thanks Terry Date and The Eagle-Tribune for telling the story of this adventurous couple.

Thanks Elaine Glusac for mentioning us in The New York Times!

Don't knock group travel until you've tried it. As a worldly, independent traveler who LOVES to meticulously research for and plan my travel, I never thought I'd be "into" going with a group. Until I started working in group travel and tried it. And I'm a TOTAL convert. You get more chances to meet locals, exposure to restaurants or experiences you wouldn't have found on your own, the pleasure of meeting other travelers, and you eliminate the stress of planning and navigating transportation details. Elaine Glusac shared considerations in The New York Times this week on how to choose the right travel org, including: *Group size *Age of travelers *Topics of interest *Tour inclusions *Level of independence *Ask for recommendations Check out the link in the comments!
