Accelerating philanthropy in pursuit of a just world.
About us
At Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors, our mission is to accelerate philanthropy in pursuit of a just world. We advise established and aspiring philanthropists, foundations, and corporations; manage innovative, early-stage non-profits; and share insight and learning with our clients, our community, and the sector. Tracing our roots back to John D. Rockefeller, Sr., who in 1891 set out to manage his philanthropy with the same professionalism as his business ventures, we maintain our founding belief that philanthropy should not only be thoughtful and effective, but also fulfilling. Our diverse staff draws on its unmatched global expertise, experience, and vast international network to provide tailored services that meet your unique circumstances and needs. By continuing to build on lessons learned over more than a century, our goal is to help define the next generation of philanthropy and to foster a worldwide culture of giving.

"Democracy thrives on the peaceful exchange of ideas..." Read #RPA CEO, Latanya Mapp's statement that emphasizes the importance of unity in condemning violence and ensuring justice.
As someone who has dedicated my personal and professional life to public service, diplomacy and furthering democracy, I unequivocally condemn the assassination attempt on the former US president. Such acts of violence undermine the very principles of democracy and justice that we stand for. It is also a stark reminder of those that have laid down their lives for this country, Dr. Martin Luther King, Malcolm X, the civil rights matyrs, as well as the men and women who have served this country in its many wars including my father, a disabled Marine, my uncle, a disabled Vietnam veteran, and so many more. Democracy thrives on the peaceful exchange of ideas, the sanctity of the ballot, and the respect for the rule of law. When violence enters this equation, it threatens the principles that bind us as a nation. This attempted assassination of a political figure awakens my unwavering commitment to governance by and for the people and strong resilience in the face of such threats. In fact, violence, in all its forms, whether political, gender based, mass shootings, in the street, in the home, not only seeks to harm but also aims to instill fear, create division, and erode public and private trust. In moments like these, we must reaffirm our dedication to the principles of democracy, including the priority to protect our communities with appropriate gun control legislation ... protect human rights defenders both here and around the world ... protect civilians during war and conflict .... and the list goes on. We must stand united, regardless of political affiliations, in condemning ALL violent acts and ensure that justice is served. Our democracy is strongest when we protect the rights and freedoms of all citizens, uphold the rule of law without discrimination, and engage in constructive dialogue rather than succumbing to violence and hatred. As the CEO of Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors, an organization dedicated to accelerating philanthropy in pursuit of a just world, we will continue to work towards pluralism, equity and inclusive democracies where all citizens thrive.

At RPA, we're proud to sponsor a range of organizations working to make the world a more just place. Accelerate Resilience L.A. (ARLA) is one of those organizations. ARLA envisions Los Angeles as a climate-resilient region that's safer, healthier, and more prepared for our increasingly dangerous climate reality. ARLA supports the implementation of community-driven living infrastructure at scale across Los Angeles County, advancing community resilience, stabilizing local climates, and regenerating interconnected social and ecological systems. Freedom is not free. Democracy takes intention and diligent work to maintain and to strengthen. On this #IndependenceDay, we celebrate our democracy and our hard-won freedoms while we recognize our model of governing is something we must all fight to uphold. Now, more than ever, democracy needs bold funders. We can’t think of a better time to highlight our report Democracy-Focused Philanthropy: Choosing Operating Models for Deeper Impact than on Independence Day. This report serves a guide for funders looking to strengthen the bonds of our democracy while centering racial justice. From all of us at Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors, we wish you a happy and safe Independence Day! https://lnkd.in/ehur6t2z

As we close out #PrideMonth, we’re proud to highlight one of our sponsored project organizations, the Collective Future Fund. The Fund mobilizes more than 200 organizations to create a violence-free future, combatting hatred based on sexuality, gender, race, or other identities. Put simply by the Fund itself, “We envision a future where all survivors of gendered, sexualized, and racialized violence live in collective safety, with shared abundance, joy, and power.” To learn more about this worthy organization and how you can help, visit CollectiveFutureFund.org.

I’ve always believed that you can’t make a great impact without great collective insight, so I’m delighted to share Fondation CHANEL's new global board. Our trustees provide the wisdom and support to help the foundation continue to scale its impact, and further strengthen its commitment to creating a world in which women and girls are free to shape their own destiny. The new trustees come from trailblazing leadership roles in the gender equality and philanthropic sectors, as well as from senior leadership positions within CHANEL. As president of Fondation CHANEL and chair of the board, I'm excited about the depth and breadth of expertise these trustees will bring and the rich diversity of perspectives they represent.
