Healthy love respects boundaries, encourages growth, and involves honest communication, compromise, and mutual trust. Unhealthy love, on the other hand, disregards boundaries, resents growth, manipulates, and lacks empathy. Recognizing these differences helps us build and maintain healthier relationships!

Payette Brewing Co. will donate 50% of draft beer sales during this time. We are working on building up our supply for our clients and outreach events - if you have any beading supplies to donate to our efforts, feel free to bring them!

This alarming statistic from RAINN highlights the vulnerability of younger individuals and underscores the urgent need for targeted prevention efforts and support services. By raising awareness and educating communities, we can work towards reducing the incidence of sexual assault and providing the necessary resources to help young survivors heal and reclaim their lives.

Someone who already has access to the child is far more likely to be the perpetrator in a child sexual abuse case than a stranger. Child abusers work hard to gain the trust and friendship of the child. Who are the acquaintances in a child's life? They can be parents or siblings of friends, coaches, teachers, mentors, clergy, babysitters, partners of family members, or anyone who has the potential to be alone with the child. If a child tries to tell you about something, listen and believe them. Children rarely make up stories of child abuse. Tell them that the abuse is NEVER their fault and call 211 to report it. Every adult in the state of Idaho is a mandated reporter of suspected child abuse!

When healing from abuse, it can take time to notice the small changes adding up. Progress may seem slow, but every step forward, no matter how small, contributes to your overall healing. Over time, these small changes accumulate, leading to substantial growth. Celebrate your resilience and remember that healing is a journey, not a race. Give yourself grace and acknowledge the strength it takes to keep moving forward.

Abusive behaviors can result from a range of factors hidden below the surface, including past trauma, ingrained beliefs, and fears. Past trauma might lead individuals to replicate harmful patterns. Cultural or familial beliefs can normalize abuse. Fears of losing control or rejection often drive abusive actions. A distorted sense of belonging, where one feels connected through dominance and control, can perpetuate these behaviors. This model is not meant to dismiss or rationalize abusive behaviors but to remind us that the abuse is never the victim's fault. Oftentimes, they have been groomed to believe that they deserve to be treated poorly or that the abuse is somehow their fault. Denial of the abuse can be a coping mechanism.
