The Salem Red Sox are a Minor League Baseball team in Salem, Virginia. We are a member of the Class A-Advanced Carolina League and a farm team for the Boston Red Sox. The Salem Red Sox play home games at Carilion Clinic Field at Salem Memorial Ballpark. The Salem Red Sox are proud to have helped develop eight members of the 2018 World Series Championship team including reigning American League MVP Mookie Betts. Betts led Salem to our most recent Carolina League title in 2013. While the current ownership dates back to 2009, the organization's history is much more robust. In 2017 Salem played its 50th season in the Carolina League, but the professional baseball history dates all the way back to 1939. Salem alumni include Hall of Famer Orlando Cepeda, National League MVP Dave Parker and two members of the Chicago Cubs curse breaking 2016 team, Anthony Rizzo and Ben Zobrist. Despite all that history, the Salem Red Sox and Haley Toyota Field are so much more than a minor league baseball team. We also host the Roanoke College Maroons baseball program, the Virginia High School League state tournament as well as numerous other showcase events. Apart from baseball the ballpark also hosts multiple movie nights, two beer festivals, a fall festival, a community yard sale and many other community events. The Salem Red Sox are an integral part of the Roanoke Valley. Each year the ballpark hosts upwards of a quarter million visitors. Red Sox players, staff and our lovable mascot Mugsy participate in countless hospital and school visits as well as other community events. The Red Sox are operated by Diamond Baseball Holdings (DBH).

She is in her first season with the Salem Red Sox following her graduation from the University of Georgia last summer with a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing and a certificate in Music Business. While this is her first time working in sports, she is very excited to join the staff this year. When she is not working, Haley enjoys going to concerts, playing tennis, spending time with her cats, and Calling the Dawgs.
#WelcomeWednesday Meet Christopher Christopher Wagner is our Ticket Operations Assistant. He began his career as a Sport Administration Student graduating in December of 2023. He has spent time with Cincinnati Athletics, The Indy Eleven, and Nashville Predators before joining the Salem Red Sox Family in April. In his free time, Christopher enjoys watching sports, hiking, and hanging out with friends.
#WelcomeWednesday Meet Josh Van Auken Josh is our new Executive Chef. Josh was born in Santa Clara, California, and moved to Roanoke when he was around 5 years old. He graduated from Northside High School and attended Virginia Western where he received an associate degree in culinary arts. He has been in the food service industry ever since, working from restaurants to healthcare. He's spent the last 15 years running kitchens in healthcare. He is super excited to start this new endeavor as Executive Chef for the Salem Red Sox.
Salem Red Sox Named Small Business of the Year! On Friday, the Salem Red Sox were presented with the 2023 Salem-Roanoke County Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Year award. Congratulations to the entire staff for all their hard work in helping to make Carilion Clinic Field an outstanding business member in the community. "It is truly an honor to even be mentioned in the same breath with all of the other great businesses of our community. This award is a reflection of the wonderful support from our fans and all of the hard work that our incredible front office staff puts in throughout the entire calendar year," said Allen Lawrence, General Manager.
#WelcomeWednesday Meet Kylee and Jazmine Kylee is our Food and Beverage Intern. She is a student at Roanoke College studying Business Administration. In her free time she plays volleyball for Roanoke and enjoys spending time with her family and friends. Jazmine is our Promotions and Social Media Assistant. She was born and raised in Springfield Virginia and is currently studying Digital Marketing Strategy at Virginia Tech and will graduate in May. She has been surrounded by sports her entire life from lacrosse, field hockey, and soccer. She has two dogs back home, a Yorkie mix and a pit bull puppy, along with two younger brothers. She loves hanging out with friends at the beach and hopes to travel the Mediterranean in the near future.
