The State Water Project is a remarkable success and the largest state-built project in the world. This piece of our region’s diverse water portfolio is critical to ensuring water availability every year. By moving water from the wettest parts of the state to drier regions, the SWP supports long-term sustainability of supply. At San Bernardino Valley, we work together to ensure that this supply is reliable and sustainable, maximizing the value of these resources over time. The State Water Project serves over 27 million Californians. Our job is to secure this water supply, maintain the State Water Project, and invest in additional projects like Delta Conveyance and the Sites Reservoir to address climate change. Given the variability of rainfall in Southern California, it's essential to have infrastructure projects distributed across the state to capture water where it’s raining in order to be ready for dry periods. Special thanks to Lance Eckhart and San Gorgonio Pass Water Agency contributing their expertise and thoughts in this video. #StateWaterProject #WaterManagement #SustainableFuture #ClimateResilience #SanBernardinoValley

Reliable water supply depends on preparing for the future with diverse water sources like the State Water Project, stormwater capture, recycled water, and good old water conservation. National Smart Irrigation Month is the perfect time for residents to check for irrigation leaks and make those small adjustments that can save thousands of gallons of water. Let's all do our part! #SmartIrrigation #WaterConservation #SustainableFuture #SanBernardinoValley

We often get asked, why focus on headwaters resilience? The answer is simple: headwaters provide 67% of our local water supply. The beginnings of streams form in our local mountains, culminating in major water bodies like the Santa Ana River, Mill Creek, and Lytle Creek that supply our drinking water and recreational areas. Managing the National Forest is crucial to reduce the risk of catastrophic wildfires, which could disrupt our water supply for years, if not decades. Headwater resilience is about more than just water; it's about preserving riparian areas and promoting stewardship, like stream cleanups, that benefit everyone in our basins. Thank you to the Institute for Watershed Resiliency for their valuable input! Check out our video to learn more about this vital topic and hear from the experts themselves! #HeadwatersResilience #WaterManagement #EnvironmentalStewardship #SustainableFuture #SanBernardinoWater

Stretching roughly from the Crafton Hills to the Cajon Pass, the San Bernardino Basin area is a groundwater storage reservoir under our feet that is roughly the size of Lake Shasta. This shared natural basin is a major water source for our communities and is replenished by stormwater, recycled water, and flows from the imported state water project. #WaterProjects #SanBernardinoBasin #Groundwater #SustainableFuture #SanBernardinoWater
