Guaranteeing that every meal, consumed by every mother and child, contains lifesaving nutrients, forever.

About us

Every day 8,000 children die and 2 billion people suffer from preventable illnesses because their diets lack basic vitamins and minerals. Sanku has the solution. Our vision: a world where everyone, everywhere, has guaranteed, affordable access to the nutrients they need to survive and thrive. Billions of people rely on small flour mills for their daily food. Empowering these mills to add lifesaving micronutrients to their flour could end malnutrition forever. Our award-winning technology makes adding nutrients into flour simple. Our innovative business model incentivises millers by neutralising the cost of the added nutrients. Because of Sanku, millers can produce quality nutritious flour, and families can access affordable healthy food every day. The Maburas, affectionately known as "The Dreamers" in Kibaha Township, Tanzania, are dedicated to the wellbeing of their community, especially its youth. As parents of five, they are deeply invested in ensuring a healthier future for the next generation. Their commitment is reflected in the small mill they own and operate, named after their daughter, Godbless. Earlier this year, their vision for a healthier community began to take shape when Sanku installed a Dosifier machine at their mill, at no cost. They also order their customized, branded flour bags and nutrient premix from Sanku for the production of fortified flour. This partnership has been a significant milestone for them. "This is the starting point to greater heights. Thanks to Sanku, we are now ready to produce nutritious flour for our people," Mr. Mabura expressed with gratitude. Looking ahead, the Maburas plan to establish a school to provide education for the youth in their community, ''aiming to nourish both bodies and minds and create a lasting impact''. We celebrate Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) which are key in advancing the #SDGs. Despite progress lagging, MSMEs continue to be the backbone of global economies, representing 90% of businesses, more than 70% of employment, and 50% of GDP worldwide. In a world facing diverse challenges—from economic and social issues such as climate change, MSMEs are crucial to fostering job creation, equitable growth, and sustainable transformation. Their contribution to local and national economies is invaluable, particularly for the working poor, women, youth, and vulnerable groups. At Sanku, we are committed to continue partnering with small and medium-scale millers who provide for up to 95% of the population in East Africa. Through this partnerships, we are reaching more than 10 million people daily with nutritious food, highlighting the important role of MSMEs in improving livelihoods, promoting well-being towards #ZeroHunger. As we navigate towards a sustainable future, let's continue to empower MSMEs to drive the realization of #SDGs. The Micronutrient Forum highlights the critical importance of resilience and the role of nutrition in building robust societies. In the face of increasing climate crises, many in Low and Middle-Income Countries (LMIC) experience cycles of food and nutrition insecurity, deepening the risk of malnutrition and exacerbating inequities for vulnerable populations such as women, children, individuals with disabilities, and displaced communities. Food fortification is a proven, low-cost, and scalable intervention that can reduce mortality, prevent disabilities and cognitive deficits, improve growth and immune functions, and strengthen population health. It enhances food systems, making nutrient-rich diets more affordable, especially for women and adolescent girls, delivering $27 in benefits for every $1 invested. Scaling up micronutrient interventions is essential for addressing malnutrition and building resilience in societies facing climate-related crises. Food fortification improves nutrition and reinforces community resilience, helping them recover from adversities more effectively. Donate to support food fortification as a cost-effective solution to enhance nutrition 👉 http://bit.ly/40gxbSb   #SupportSanku #EndMalnutrition #EndHiddenHunger #SDG2

This #WorldRefugeeDay2024 focuses on solidarity with refugees, emphasizing the need to welcome them, celebrate their strengths, and address their challenges. Refugees often face limited access to diverse, nutrient-rich foods due to economic constraints and geographic isolation while their displacement, loss of livelihoods, and limited access to national support systems contribute to significant food insecurity. Solidarity involves keeping doors open, helping them thrive in new communities, and providing resources to support them. A nutritious meal is a meaningful beginning! We continue to work alongside the World Food Programme Eastern Africa who are keen to ensure access to nutritious meals to thousands of refugees in East Africa. #WorldRefugeeDay2024 #SupportSanku #EndMalnutrition #EndHiddenHunger #SDG2

📌 SAVE THE DATE: June 15th at 10 am for the Opening of the  Sanku  Blending Factory and the Launch of Millers for Nutrition  in Tanzania!  Millers for Nutrition aims to make it easier for millers to produce adequately fortified, safe, and nutritious food in Tanzania and to recognize the key role millers play in combating malnutrition. By providing practical tools, expert knowledge, and training from industry professionals, Millers for Nutrition supports more milling businesses in implementing food fortification and safety practices. The mission is to make food fortification good for businesses and great for people. As one of the Strategic Fortification Partners, Sanku is launching a new Nutrient Premix Blending Factory in Dar Es Salaam to make it easier for millers in Eastern Africa to source high-quality, more affordable premix locally. Nutrient premix solutions are custom-formulated blends of multiple micronutrients used to fortify foods to address nutritional deficiencies in local populations. As the first commercial nutrient blending factory in East Africa, this factory aims to overcome the high cost, low quality, and logistical challenges millers face when procuring premix to fortify their flour.  Join us from anywhere in the globe virtually as we celebrate this milestone event and recognize millers leading the way in food fortification. 🌐 Livestream link will be available soon.  #MillersForNutrition #MillersForNutritionTanzania #LisheBora #BoreshaLishe
