  • Rocket fuel you can eat? 🚀🍽️ Sustainable launch company bluShift Aerospace assures us you can in fact eat their biofuel, though they don't exactly praise the flavor profile. After all, that's just a cool tidbit— their real focus is on developing the world’s first commercial rocket powered by carbon-neutral biofuel, all in founder Sascha Deri's home state of Maine. In our latest customer video, we visited bluShift to learn about how Siemens tools have helped them accomplish major design goals, and where they're headed next in their quest to provide a sustainable space launch service. 🌎 ♻️ 🌟 #Aerospace #Sustainability

  • Low-code application development can mean higher efficiency. Despite its simplicity compared with regular programming languages, low-code software is typically viewed as an IT tool. Mendix is looking to change that perception with the development of common use templates that make it easier for manufacturing operations and management to create apps without having to supply IT with loads of documentation and then wait to see if the IT-created apps perform as expected. Low-code capabilities can democratize access to data and allow even business stakeholders to participate in building apps. Manufacturers can use low-code apps to modernize legacy systems, add new capabilities, eliminate silos, and facilitate collaboration.

  • Sustainability is the need of the hour. It can also reduce the hourly operational costs. Consider the example of modularity and consequent upgradability. By developing those, you can upgrade your existing product, provide the value that the customer needs, and not waste resources on things that are unimportant. Similarly, when trying to save energy costs, CO2 emissions are reduced in tow. Sustainability isn’t hard—you’re (probably) already doing It. That’s one of the chief lessons Eryn Devola, our head of sustainability, handed down to manufacturing leaders at Realize Live Americas earlier this year. In her experience, profitability and sustainability overlap most of the time. Eryn said, “There’s a good chance you’re already doing some of this by reducing waste and getting rid of waste. Whether this is in your throughput, whether it’s in your scrap production, whether it’s in eliminating a substance that you don’t want to have to manage anymore. All of these things help you become more effective. They also help you become more sustainable.” Click the link in our comments to further explore the link between sustainability and sound business practices. #Sustainability #SustainableBusiness #TechForSustainability

  • You may just find yourself in George Jetson’s ride, soaring across the urban skyline—far sooner than you may imagine. In a recent episode of the Talking Aerospace Today podcast, our aerospace expert, Todd Tuthill revealed that large cities are likely to have access to the technology by 2030. Advanced air mobility (AAM) is one of the many exciting things being developed in aerospace and defense, a new classification of aircraft that offers a form of aerial transportation. What is even more exciting is how close AAM is to becoming reality. With multiple companies working and making great progress in this new sector, AAM vehicles have a real chance of becoming a regular sight among cities within the next decade. #Podcast #Aerospace #FutureofAerospace

#News!📣 The latest NX software update is out, where customers can expect more artificial intelligence (AI) and generative design tools, as well as moving to the cloud with products including NX X and Zel X to improve cross-collaboration across domains. David Doral, CEO of startup Dovetail Electric Aviation, shares his experience with NX X saying, “As a startup pushing the boundaries of innovation, we require capabilities to explore all options to ensure product performance. After reviewing market offerings, NX X has been implemented, providing next generation product engineering capabilities future proofed with value-based licensing, enabling us to replace Dassault’s offerings for the more scalable and flexible Siemens Xcelerator. Together with Siemens we have an exciting future with our new platform built for the future.” Read more about the latest enhancements in our newsroom coverage via the link in our comments.

  • Is it possible to maintain an unbroken digital thread from computer-aided design (CAD) to metaverse to mixed reality (XR)? With our partner NVIDIA, at a recent conference, we demonstrated that it was possible to visualize massive datasets in real time. With our “one click to VR” approach, you can inspect and review designs in full scale using a selection of familiar tools all connected directly through our NX application to the digital thread. Stay tuned! In the next phase of our collaboration with NVIDIA, we will be releasing a new product later this year—powered by NVIDIA’s metaverse, NVIDIA Omniverse Cloud APIs —for Teamcenter X, our industry-leading cloud-based product lifecycle management (PLM) software, part of the Siemens Xcelerator platform. #DigitalThread #CAD #XR

  • Escalating temperatures have led to escalating concerns about emissions from industrial equipment. Being a conscientious organization, Hyster Yale has decided to rise to the occasion by electrifying their handling equipment. Such foundational and colossal redesign and innovation entail a lot of heavy lifting—that can now be offloaded to simulation tools like Simcenter Amesim. The team used simulation to capture the machine behavior into a virtual model to explore all the possibilities. They finally arrived at one design to fit all the market expectations and regulations without compromising development time or cost. As the vehicle undergoes final testing, we are proud to power their ascent to the highest sustainability standards. #Sustainability #IndustrialMachinery #Simulation

  • Investing in the future - students! We’re excited to announce we’ve granted state-of-the-art simulation equipment to Saskatchewan Polytechnic’s Digital Integration Centre of Excellence (DICE). This collaboration will enhance students' understanding of multiphysics simulation and provide new opportunities for applied research. "This unique set of tools from Siemens will allow DICE to further enhance what we offer our industry partners through the addition of advanced modeling into our artificial intelligence solutions," says Dr. Terry Peckham, DICE director and research chair at Sask Polytech. "This collaboration with Siemens not only benefits our students and research partners but also introduces them to some of the most advanced software tools that industry is just beginning to adopt." #Academic #Students #Simulation
