Recently, the team from the The University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center (UNMH) enjoyed a wonderful evening at Dr. Ahmed Salman's home. Dr. Salman, medical director at UNMH, and his wife, Dr. Adila Chaudhry, hosted everyone for a delicious traditional Pakistani meal. Known for his hospitality, Dr. Salman hosts team dinners and team bonding nights regularly throughout the year. This particular evening was made even more special by the presence of Sound colleagues Dr. Richard Apke from Colorado, Shaina Toney from Virginia, and Asheki Brooks from Texas, who were in Albuquerque to visit UNMH and host a workshop on length of stay. It's always great to see our colleagues spending quality time together outside of work, strengthening bonds and fostering a sense of community. These moments highlight the strong and supportive culture we have at Sound, where collaboration and camaraderie extend beyond the workplace. Congratulations to Dr. Aditya Iyer at St. Michael Medical Center in Silverdale, Washington, on making partner at Sound Physicians. “He has been single-handedly covering nights from the last year or so which has been a great help to the team,” said Dr. Maninderjit Singh, Medical Director. “I remember an extraordinary act of kindness when he gave a ride to one of his dying patient’s son, as he didn’t have a car or money to see his mother.” Thank you, Dr. Iyer, for your dedication to and support of both your patients and colleagues. We're excited to witness the impact of your talents and contributions to our team's mission of bringing better to the bedside. #BringingBetterToTheBedside

Temporary pacing is often required in the immediate post-operative period after cardiac surgery and can often be needed by other critically ill patients. This procedure uses electrical stimulation to treat abnormal heart rates until the issue resolves or long-term therapy can be initiated. In this episode of Critical Matters, Dr. Zanotti discusses temporary pacing and its uses in the ICU. He is joined by Dr. Christopher Noel, a Critical Care Attending at Cooper University Healthcare, and an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University. We had an outstanding ultrasound symposium a few weeks ago at Providence Portland Medical Center, led by our anesthesia leaders Erik Rauch, DNP, MBA, CRNA, and Ahmed Alshaarawi, DNP, MS! Anesthesia providers, and residents gathered for hands-on learning of ultrasound block techniques. Thanks to all who joined us—we're excited for our next ultrasound symposium! #BringingBetterToTheBedside #Healthcare #Anesthesia

Amid a pandemic and increasing patient volumes, a small California High Desert community medical center saw their local pulmonary group, operating in a traditional model, spread thin in keeping up with the growing demands of their ICU. To ensure appropriate care for critically ill patients, and to alleviate the pressure on physicians and nurses alike, this 200-bed rural hospital sought a dedicated, 24/7 comprehensive critical care program that could deliver top-tier care — and in short order. Learn how we delivered exceptional care by following the link here: https://bit.ly/3Y0vStb
