We are excited to introduce a short new video explaining our comprehensive substance use and mental health services. For over seven years, JoAnn Johnson has been a vital part of SouthLight, answering phones, leading a team of intake specialists, and connecting individuals to the care they need. Often the first point of contact for those seeking help, JoAnn brings compassion and dedication to her role. Join JoAnn, our Director of Administrative Services, in this brief 2-minute video as she provides an overview of the wide range of services we offer. While we provide extensive support for mental health and substance use, JoAnn emphasizes, “Above all, we offer hope.” #southlight #southlighthealthcare #behavioralhealth #substanceuse #substanceusetreatment #substanceuserecovery #drugrecovery #addictiontreatment #addictionrecovery #recoveryjourney #recovery #alcoholrecovery #raleighnc #wakecountync

A few weeks ago our counselors were conducting group sessions, when suddenly through the windows they saw an employee racing toward the bus stop. Several staff members jumped into action, not knowing what they were running toward, but knowing they needed to help. An individual had overdosed, and our staff immediately responded and administered Narcan. The individual lived, thanks to the quick work of our staff and also our clients who had Narcan on hand. Narcan saves lives. If you wonder how it works to reverse an overdose, read this fascinating article by WRAL. Thanks WRAL for educating our community in hopes of preventing more overdose deaths.

This year, White Memorial Presbyterian Church is raising $100,000 for its Major Mission Partner, SouthLight Healthcare. The church has committed to contributing $100,000 towards the renovation of our outpatient treatment center in southeast Raleigh. Recently, White Memorial’s Elizabeth McKee and Linda Nunnallee stopped by to update us on their campaign's progress and to drop off a check - the first installment of their Major Mission Grant. SouthLight CEO Adam Hartzell and Director of Development Jim Dempsey welcomed Liz and Linda, and led them on a tour of the completed parts of the renovated building. The renovation is scheduled to finished by early 2025. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/e2dNMajP

“People who have experienced one overdose are more likely to experience another." This statement is from Miriam E. Delphin-Rittmon, Ph.D., HHS Assistant Secretary for Mental Health and Substance Use and the leader of Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). In a recent study, she is quoted as saying, “But we found that when survivors received gold-standard care such as medications for opioid use disorder and naloxone, the chances of dying from an overdose in the following year drop dramatically. In short, medications for opioid use disorder, opioid overdose reversal medications, and behavioral health supports save lives.” Read more on the study below. And if you or someone you know is struggling or in crisis, call SouthLight. We welcome referrals and have walk-in hours, no appointment needed. Learn more on our website. https://lnkd.in/eZDPgNt
